Hail Runners,

Question 1:
What if Binky, the Human Albino Decker with a strength of 3, has his left
arm chopped off by a
uber-space-mutoid-cyber-killer-from-hell-and/or-outer-space and has it
replaced by a cyberlimb. It means that his left arm has a base strength of
4. Now does this mean he only has strength 4 in his left arm?

Question 2:
Same situation of as above but now Binky the Human Albino Decker has a
couple of Karma to burn and raises his strength from 3 to 4 and then to 5.
Is his strength 5 except for tests made by his left arm which still has
strength 4?

Question 3:
So if situation 2 is true does that mean that someone who has a cyberlimb
has to buy a new point of strength for his cyberlimb when he raises his
strength to keep 'whole'?

If so,...then I hate cyberlimbs!

Have a new arm grown to replace the one you lost. Cyberlimbs aren't the
only option to replacing lost limbs :)

Damnit,...I thought a cyberlimb might have the whole kewlness factor
going,...but this is just too much of a drawback!

Sure, replacing your natural limbs with cybered ones is cool. It might be slick
tech, but it's still just tech. It ultimately can't compare to flesh. Just
one more reason why biotech is much more malleable.

[And this is coming from an admitted technophile, nearly all of whose SR
characters are "ChromeGhods."]

Actually, there *IS* another option here. "Downgrading". Pull the strength
back to balance out with the body. It might cost extra (GM's discretion
here), but it would likely free up a few more ECU's on behalf of the arm and
thus for the user's own purposes. Just use the same ECU's for increasing as
it would be if you decreased it. Use the same cost for increasing it
however, or perhaps just half of it, to reflect the need for a "customized"
cyberlimb.

I think it would be worth it if you wanted the utilitarian qualities of the
arm kept, instead of the needing the "beefiness" factor.

According to Dennis Steinmeijer, at 20:14 on 1 Mar 00, the word on the

And yes.

If you've got Man & Machine, take a look at the rules on page 33 for
Unbalanced Strength; if you don't, Cybertechnology has similar (but
somewhat different) rules on page 50.
