Hello All,

something about SR3 is confusing me.... for a decker to attack something,
does he use his computer skill, or the rating of the attack utility for the
number of dice that he rolls...... I have looked all over the matrix
chapter in SR3 and can't find any reference that says anything about
this......

Well, anybody correct me if I'm wrong, but the way I understand it, you roll
with your computer skill, the rating of your attack utility is the weapon's
power, and it's damage code (Moderate by default) is... the damage code.

I thought, that you are doing every tests in the matrix with your
computer skill (perhaps except the resistance test), so I would use
computer skill.

For the moment we are still using VR2 and there you use the rating of your
offensive utility (attack program + hacking pool dice to augment it) to make
an attack.

Damage is resisted using the icon's Bod rating against a target number equal
to the power of the damage (when using attack and killer IC programs, use
the numeric power from the programs damage code), which can be modified by
certain running programs, fi. armor.
The damage level for IC depend on the host's security code.

Just my thoughts,

-Sven :)

Everyone has probably already explained this in the mails I have yet to read
but...

The decker rolls computer to attack, the power is the rating of the
programme and the damage level depends on the multiplier of the attack
utility.
