Subject: Cyberdeck/Remote Control Deck Question
Date: Tue Aug 14 06:50:02 2001
Hi all,

I'm hoping someone out there can answer a question on using a cyberdeck as
a remote control deck using a rigger protocol emulation module;

This is mentioned in the matrix book, with a utility to manage the drones
in captains chair mode, but I wasnt sure which peice of kit you need to
plug into the cyberdeck to do this, or where it was listed as to how much
it costs, availabilty etc. Also, would you need a radio interface for the
deck to allow you to manage the drones, else you have to do it plugged
into the vehicle directly (not much good for a drone!).

I've looked in the rigger 3 book as well, but apart from again mentioning
its possible (and the downsides), it doesnt mention how, or which kit...

can someone set me straight here? whats going on and how do I do it...?
:-) apologies if this is a FAQ, I havent seen it..(the question, that is)

any help appreciated!

John

If I understood it correctly, this is how I interpreted it:

You need the Remote Control utility, which is just a piece of software
that you program yourself or buy from a deckmeister,...
And it works in conjunction with the Rigger Protocol Emulation Module,
that can be found in M&M p.25, to emulate the protocol used on drones.

However you still need some way to tap into the communiction "lines" to
the drones in order to command them and for this you could use fi. a
remote control deck.

Just my thoughts,
