Hi all,

apologies if this has been asked, but it struck me just now;

since a cybercam cybereye mod is conidered to be part of a mage's being,
when implanted, as it was paid for with essence, does this mean that he
can record things seen with astral perception with it?
how about astral projection?

I can see both for and against arguments, such as the team using the
cybereye as a "hitcher jack" to see what the mage does while he astrally
projects, some excellent storylines for a cybercam
recording of a astraly projecting mage, and having to follow the route he
took... which then leads onto..if it can record astral projection,
how about metaplanar travel?

personally, I'm swinging towards being able to record astral perceptions,
but not metaplanar travel. it could, but, the whole metaplanar time
perception thing mucks it up, and it only shows static... anyway I'm
thinking out loud here - what do people think?

No on both accounts... When a magician uses astral projection or perception, he is
leaving his physical senses behind. That means he doesn't use his eyes to "see"
in the astral, and this is why blind magicians can still assense.

If the magician's sensorium was recorded while he was astrally perceiving, all the
recording would show would be a normal, mundane view of things, perhaps with blurry,
unfocused vision.

Nope and definately not.

The trouble is when you project you leave your body. The cybereye would thus
be useless in projection. For perception it's a tough call but I'd have to
go with the fact that unless a magical effect has a PHYSICAL manifestation
the cyber eye would not see what your real eye would. Same with hitcher
jacks, try getting an astral signature on film...Not gonna happen.

I'd say no to perception - because electronics can't pick up magic usually.

I'd say no to projection as well since the fact of the matter is when you
project your body is shed while your spirit moves about...Since your
cybernetics are just machines they stay with the body and pick up the inside
cover of your eye lid.

No, this ain't possible. When you project or percieve astrally, you don't
look with your normal eyes you see "with the eyes of the mind". If not, you
could find a mage not being able to percieve astrally due to not having his
eyes... anyway, this is how I understand it.

According to Jconstable@*****.com, on Sun, 04 Nov 2001 the word on the street was...

Astral perception is not sight; it's a sixth sense that is easiest to describe in
terms of sight because that's the primary sense for humans. (If our most important
sense had been hearing, then astral space would have been described as sounds
rather than sights.) Thus, you can't record astral space just because you've got an
implanted camera...
