Subject: Cyber Replacement (eyes)

Hi...

I would like to know one thing.

If an elf, for exemple, gets a cyber replacement for his eyes that include Th
ermografic, flare compensation and optical magnification III (that makes .5 ess
ence with non alfa/beta cyberware), does he loses his natural low light vision.
The way i see things, the elf has the ability to see in low light mode, becaus
e of his eyes having special characteristics. Sooooo... if u take the eyes of a
n elf and replace them by new mechanical eyes his old natural eyes will be gone
. This means that he won't see in low light mode unless he chosses to put low l
ight in his new replacement. It's something like having an natural arm (articul
ated), and replace it by rigid artificial arm. If the character doesn't makes t
he replacement, and simply puts the new cyberware in his natural eye, he will r
etain his ability to use natural low light vision. The same goes for Orks, Trol
ls and Dwarves. If the character has a cyber replacement, he will pay less esse
nce, but he will loose his natural ability. If he puts the cyber in his natural
eye, he will pay more essence for it, but he'll keep his natural ability.

I would like to hear some opinions about this.

About the Blast Shout spell, i will design it again, and i'll post it. I agr
ee that there were a lot of problems with it. I thank all those who made commen
ts about it, and i would like to hear your opinion after i mail the revised for
m of the spell.

Thanks to all

[eye stuff deleted]

Here's the ruling:

Replacing the eyes loses any ability that race might have had. So put new
cybereyes into an elf, dwarf etc then they lose their special racial sight.
Of course you can add that ability back but only at a cost of essence (not
forgetting the .5 free slot).

If you don't want to replace the eyes and add improvements then fine, you just
don't get the .5 slot.

Uh, I suspect that you can't add cyber improvements without replacing eyes...
Think of it, where do you wire the output of the detectors?

No you don't need to replace the eyes, simply take them out attach the wires
to your neuro interface (see shadowtech for a proper description). This is
after all how smartgun links work.

What i was asking was basicly this:

An elf puts a cyber replacement for his eyes. He spends .2 essence.
In the replacement he puts THERAMOGRAPHIC, FLARE COMP. and OPTICAL MAG. III.
He only spends .2 essence but he also loses his natural low light vision.

Then there is another elf who puts THERMOGRAPHIC (.2), FLARE COMP. (.1) and OP
TICAL MAG. III (.2) . He spends more .3 essence but he retains his natural low
light vision.

Is this correct??
Thanks 4 your help

To the brain, of course. That's where the eye data gets sent anyway. If you
can add individual options wihtout resorting to a full cybereye, you should
be able to retain all natural visual capabilities while addint those options.
