In response to the msgs "you see the problem with cybernetic system
X, its cheaper to buy Y" and a thought I just had.
In my humble opinion, charectors are not going to know the difference
between one set of cybernetics and another set. Do you know if there's
any real difference between 2 different brands of televisions?(I'v seen
what looks like the SAME exact set by 2 different companies selling
for 100 and 300 dollars!!!!) I think game masters should keep the EFFECTS
of technology secret(just tell charectors "it does more damage", "it
seems faster than the other computer", "the AD for it on the television
said it increasing reaction time by 50%", etc etc.) If your charectors
want to know what the effects are, make them buy knowledge skills
in the area(WEAPONS, CYBERNETICS, etc). Now, some people may think
its too hard to keep everything secret, and charectors will know
about it already. I don't think it would be too hard, just
make up half a dozen companies, and randomly assign stuff to them.
Sometimes both companies will have the same systems. Change the prices
around a little and just keep a chart for your private use listing
which company sells which system.

What do you guayls thing?
