This is the way I imagine such spells as Agonizing Pain and Overstimulation
and the like actually working in some ways. While not as blatantly obvious
about just how the agonising pain or such occurs, this is a potential
roleplaying aspect that could be played out. OTOH, a spell that is similar
to these spells (in that it temporarily fills in the condition monitor while
sustained) and has the imagery of the target getting the drek beat out of
them by a 12 foot grasshopper in chain and leather would be quite workable
as far as I can see. :-)

Actually, I was thinking of a spell that actually does damage (ie when
the spell is gone, the damage is still there) ... and the imagery I was
thinking of was a tiny grasshopper inflicting serious wounds and a giant
Behemoth inflicting only light :)

We have a House Rule available to Intiates, as well as an entire type of
"Elementality" for Illusion magic in general.

it's called "Phantasm" (yes, we stole it, so bite ME). It gives a semblance
of reality to an Illusion, allowing said material to be at least partially
tangible. From the damaging POV...

Melee Weapons do a damage code less than they do were they "real."
Animals/Monsters with Phantasm additives are treated the same, with their
strength and the like being reduced in one fatigue shift (they get strength in
kilograms, no strain, Strx5=L, Strx10=M, Strx15=S, with Str in D6 for bonus
beyond that and sorcery tests made throughout to keep the illusion in it's
tangible state using the L/M/S modifiers for strength fatigue as sustaining
modifiers for the magic).

But, as I said, we have some major House Rules, more than we need probably,
but oh well...
