Which would explain why not many shamans are in corps. How many do you think
would choose to receive ANY surgery? Sorry, but I think many/most mages,
regardless of style, would like to lose that point of magic. That one don't
work.

Kinda... but I believe you can hide the link. It can still be found,
but not easily.

Surgery doesn't cause Essence loss. Ie, I get my appendix removed; I
don't loose Essence. It is the grafting of alien substances to the
body that causes loss of Essence. Ie, I get my shattered hip bone
replaced with a plastic construct; I might loose 0.01 Essence for it.

What about samples of blood? These could be kept for ritual magic purposes,
I believe. The 'loyal' hermetic mages could keep the shamans under control,
if necessary.

I believe that certain totems will be more likely to handle corp life than
others, although a lot will have to do with the shaman in question.
Dog f'rinstance should be loyal, dependable.
