IF anyone out there has seen Dark Conspiracy, I'm trying to integrate
it into a Shadowrun game. Any info anyone can provide would be of great
help. Some of the ideas I'm already working with are:
1) The world of DC is much more lawless than SR. I would have to
have my personal world split off from the standard SR timeline somewhere
(not too far back, at least past 2039) and carry on for a few years on
tangent to the SR system.
2) Due to this, large areas of the Matrix are in shambles. In some
places, entire LTGs are cut out. Also, in accordance with DC, Some areas
have gone completely under the Dark Ones control. So in essence, chunks
of SR go to war zones. Not like Denver, more like Vietnam, where the moon
isn't out, you're equipment's broken, and your hearing & sight are on the
blink.
3) All in all, this could be a highly interesting combo. DC is
more paranoid than SR could ever be (just try me on this point), yet
interestingly enough they have more of a chance, what with magic & cybertech.

I have played and run Dark Con. several times and I think that one of the
problems you are going to have is meshing the technological levels of the
two games. The technology that is inherent to Shadowrun is the
"forbidden tech" that the alien invaders use (i.e. Cyborg escapee) But
you are right it is more paranoind in general. It is also a much darker
future. Meat for the beast and all that. Oh and don't forget the
Demonground.

I think this can be workable. Something I think many GMs ignore is the
difficulty in finding good cyberware and implanting it. Imagine the same
after several years of disruption to tech and general chaos. Even if
found, though, I don't think the cyber presents a momentous problem. It's
like trying to load a $*&* style enemy into DC. If nescessary, you can
give the Dark Ones higher tech. I don't think that's really needed,
though. The reason I want to run this, aside from I like the SR system
more than DC, is that if played realistically, PCs have no chance in DC.
The Dark Ones could just up and kill the entire human race. Also, a side
effect is runners who have been running entirely for money have to fight
for their lives, and the lives of others.

I was referring to the Demonground on number 2.

(Sorry, been doing wedding stuff all weekend (not mine, thankfully!)

Anyways, in DC they have things called Minions which are basically Cthulhu
type trans dimensional bad guys. They give tech to us humans which they use
to corrupt us and open portals to their world. Sorta hyper-advanced
biotech.

I just took that and threw in a little magic. My campaigns pre-dates a lot
of the "official" horror stuff (HB, Atzlan SB, etc.) so I just sort of made
it work for SR. Minions in my SR game are similar, but different to
Horrors. Less powerful, but more diabolical than Horrors. They are
technically and magically more advanced and are basciallly
trans-dimensional colonizers.

To give you a specific toy, the minions have a thing called a
"slaughterbot". It's a small bio-robot thing that rips open the back of
your braincase and takes over your body. Great for when you need a trusted
innocent to pull off a dirty job. My pc's are totally paraniod of anyone
wearing a hat these days...

Take an ancient and powerful alien race living in a transdimensional
area behind portals on things like Io, and mix in ludicrous amounts of
cthulhu, and you have the equivelant of the Dark Conspiracy beasties.

Now take a second nosey alien race who opens those portals, and you've
definately got Dark Conspiracy.

A lot of people slam the game, but it's not really all that bad, a tad
overpowered maybe, but fun nevertheless.
