In response to the datajack telepathy issue...

A datajack is primarily a communication device, allowing a human mind to
interact with computers etc...
Linking two people directly thru their datajacks would allow them to
communicate at an insanely fast rate (and silently too).
I would not allow a "mind probe" scenario to occur in this way. It seems
unreasonable that you could make someone give up information in this manner.
Think of it as being like interactive communication via computers (ie. the
tell command for IBM/VM, send and phone for VAX) You can request information,
but that doesn't mean you're gonna get it!
Now if one of the people has headware memory, and some paydata storedin it,
it's a slightly different story. In this situation, I would allow you to
raid the person's headware memory by making a resisted computer skill test,
with both people rolling thier computer skill with the other's computer skill
as a target. (if one of them doesn't have a computer skill, use the proper
default from the skill web). I can justify this since you would be trying to
convince the memory controller in the headware unit to send the data, and the
other person is trying convince the memory controller not to. This is roughly
analogous to decking into a datastore and trying to download, except this time
there is a person in direct control of the unit who is trying to stop you
from doing it.
Also, don't forget that while you're trying to steal someone's headware data
they are free to try the same thing with you.!!!!

NEWNEWNEW From Ares America :::::::::::

Ever wish that you didn't have to talk to use your radio headset when
you need to call for backup? Well we've got the answer right here::

Ares Mk4 CyberComm.

The CyberComm is a special coded transmitter and interface module that
plugs directly into a standard datajack. It allows direct and fast
communication with NO NOISE! Also, for security purposes, each set of
Mk 4 CyberComms have specially synchronized switching encyrption units,
that make shure your transmissions are private. The synchronized
scramblers come in a variety of levels, and all units in a set must be
of the same level. Range is approximately 1.5 Km.

Security Rating Price per Unit
--------------- --------------
1 1,000Y
2 2,500Y
3 4,000Y
4 5,500Y

More reliable than standard CommLinks, the CyberComm allows you to
communicate as if your datajacks were connected directly.

>>>>>[ Synchronized switching??? What is this drek! I bet they just
base the encryption algorithm on an internal clock, and to make
a "set" of CyberComms they just synchronize the clocks. I'll
also bet that the only difference between units of different
ratings is the switching speed. If I got my hands on one of
those babys, I bet I could slap the encypter/decrypter on a
radio reciver and pick up "secure" conversations by messing
with the clock settings. ]<<<<<

>>>>>[ Hmmm, I don't trust the security they have on these things,
it
doesn't sound reliable. Besides, you give radio access to you
'jack and anybody with one of these things tuned to the right
encryption can muck with your headware!!! ]<<<<<

>>>>>[ It seems that there may be another use, if you can beef up
the
signal security so no one can mess with your deck by radio. You
could probably plug one unit into a dataline tap, the other
into your deck's comm port and deck in remotely. Any trace IC
would only be able to locate your dataline tap, and your other
CyberComm. It could be risky, but may be useful. ]<<<<<<

device
and you guys have already come up with quasi-legal decking
applications! ]<<<<<<

>>>>>>[ You got it chummer!!!!! By the way, I think that some of
the
wierd IC I ran into while raiding TSR's database has some
strange side-effects. Lately I've had these urges to be more
like my namesakes in that other game...]<<<<
