I'd suggest a troll phys adept, with extra dice in armed combat,
specialising in monofilament whip (+2 reach) would be about the
nastiest character you could generate, for hand-to-hand killing.

A troll Phys Ad with killing hands deadly and Str 11 or so is
pretty impressive though. Especially with a specialisation in unarmed
combat.

No. The whole point is the +2 Reach. In SR II, the exaggeration of
the effects of Reach breaks new ground, applying a bonus to the
wielder as well as a penalty to the opponent.

Yeah, but as I recall the chance to resist a power 11 attack is a
lot less than a power 9 attack and base deadly damage is better than
serious so....

I assumed the physad troll would have Str 9, too, and I believe the
mono whip is (Str)S damage; assume skill 8 + 6 extra dice, TN 3
for expected 9 successes, before Combat Pool. The opponent has TN 5.

So I stand by my remarks.

Incidentally, I've never faced such an opponent, and hope I never will.

And if you want to risk spells quickened, he could have +4 Str and
+4 Reaction dice. (But so could any combat type.)

Well, I can't argue with that, but I am rather partial to Trolls with
Dikoted Polearms myself. They're just as good I feel (& they can't hit 'em
selves if they stuff up :-))
