A decker can do a lot, actually, without getting shot at :) They've the
unique position of coordinating a run (let's say the team is infiltrating
at several points, going into different places at the same time, or
spliting up to accomplish different tasks. The decker can be in contact
with them all, organizing/coordinating/timing everything so that the team
can do the run smoothly) and at the same time, providing overwatch. My
decker has visual and auditory links to each member of the team (aren't
modern electronics fun?) and so she can watch them all, while taking care
of matrix security (and confusing the physical sec, too). So, while she
isn't often involved in direct combat (although she can take care of
herself in combat, mostly) she still can be "with" the team while on a
more dangerous physical run.

Jennie (the decker who's smart enough to avoid getting shot at...)
