No real advantage? Oh, my, are you just looking at
the statisics of Otaku? Even then, I seem to remeber
getting the impression that Otaku were superior to all
but the best decks. But, beyond that, you no longer
have to worry about the programs (and the endless
hours it takes to make them/find them) or the money it
takes to buy them/their parts. Or the maintenance.
Or howabout not having to lug around that deck? Trust
me, it is a lot easier to pass as a normal kid just
running around without the deck case or other large
bag slung over your shoulder. You don't need
*anything* besides your datajack (fairly common in
2060) and a jack-in point (also very common). Plus,
you can't (I hope) accidentally drop your wet-ware,
and knock loose/break some of the chips inside like
you can with a deck. And, even if subtlety isn't your
thing, you can carry alot more other useful things
without having to worry about that deck. Oh, yeah,
and what about not having to remeber to grab/to go
back for your deck as you are bolting from an ambush?
If it slips your mind, then you either have to run
back into the melee, or you are just plain powerless.
As it's been a while, and I don't have VR2.0 with me,
I can't say much about the stats, but looking beyond
that, I'd say that the rest of it almost makes it
worth it by itself.
