I'm planning to make a Game Demo about Shadowrun on the PC.

I wanted to know your wish list and ideas that you have for the demo.

How do you imagine the combat sytem to look like? How do you see the
manipulation/usage of pools?

thx.

I think the best 'engine' for Shadowrun would be like Silent Storm II,
or Jagged Alliance 2. A turn based strategy game with 'Action Points'.
You could use the action points to simulate wired reflexes and such.
Someone with wired 2 would have so many more points etc.

If you play either of the games I mentioned you will quickly see how
seamlessly they would fit in with the Shadowrun universe. Ahh one can
only hope that one day we do get a SR game, and it is done well.

Just be careful. Don't need anyone on this list getting sued by Microsoft.

They own all the rights to Shadowrun computer games.

There was once an email here that mentioned an address to request a game:
shadowru@*********.com

I do think that a Shadowrun game would be cool. Just don't want anyone getting into
trouble about it. :)

Never heard of that in the first place.
Roughly what time period was that? Was that before Microsoft bought Bungie?

Nope after. Hmm with in the last year. The only place I heard of it was
on this list.

Hmm. Interesting. Might have some promise then. That'd mean it was Bungie's project after
Halo 2 probably. Or they were thinking about it.

I heard it either on the list, or just somewhere random (this is my only
real SR news source). But, it was just a rumor, not a press release or
anything. I doubt anything will come of it, unless it's a SR-themed
FPS. :P

Wow... there really ARE alot of rumors out there about this 'game'

A google search for "Shadowrun Bungie Microsoft" turns up alot of hits.

However, not sure if any of them are really true. Weisman was rumored to be talking with
Microsoft back in the FASA days.

FASA Interactive [along with the computer game rights to Shadowrun] was
sold to Microsoft years ago. Unless Microsoft actually licenses the
rights to another company, they would be the publisher of any Shadowrun
computer/console game.

Whether they'll ever actually do it though, who the hell knows.

Yeah, and Halo 2 has not only gone gold, but a french version is also
available from the internet. >:)

Of course, *if* they release Halo 2 for the PC, which they probably will,
they will still be working on that for a few months.

Game companies of that size general have more than 1 project on the go
at any one time. True the majority of focus in recent months would have
been on Halo 2, but I bet that they would have had at least 1 or 2
other small teams working on the next game, even if its not a Shadowrun
one.

I remember reading on the Neverwinter Night boards sometime ago ( well
before NWN was released ) a post from on the games Directors, who loves
the world of SR and would love to make a game for it. Now that would be
cool. Bioware doing a SR game.
But again thats just one employes hopes not a confirmed "we are trying
to chance this license" type statement.

Doesn't specifically mention Shadowrun its a nice little VERY recent
quote on Bungie's plans, now that Halo 2 is out the door.

http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_idV780

"Bungie plans to do "something different" now that Halo 2 is finished,
studio manager Peter Parsons told the BBC last week, scotching
suggestions that another sequel to Halo would be the Microsoft-owned
developer's next project.

But despite Halo 2 having barely made it out of the door (and being
more than a month away from release), Parsons isn't shy about
contemplating the future. "After Halo 2 we are planning to do something
different," he said. "We will do something else and we have a few
ideas."

However fans of the series will be pleased to hear that it's not
abandoning Halo by any stretch of the imagination. "We have several
hundred years of Halo fiction laid out," Parsons tells the BBC at one
point, and on the subject of a possible movie adaptation, he says
"Maybe some day," adding that there's been interest, "but it is not
something we are thinking about."

Of course, with Xbox 2 now very much the focus of Microsoft's plans -
whether they're willing to talk about it yet or not - and considering
what Halo did for the original Xbox, it's highly likely that Bungie is
being prepped to deliver one of the system's launch titles.

Whatever the team is working on, we'll be sure to let you know as soon
as we hear anything."

The real reason about this Demo is to present it to Microsoft. I know
that the project is not mendated but several people in the game
industry made their first step that way.

Yes, I know, I'm just a day dreamer.... ^_^

A game similar to Neverwinter Nights about Shadowrun would be WAAYYYYY
cool.... I would hate to see a FPS about Shadowrun unless it's a bit
like Deus Ex.

What we need is a game that capture the real essence of the roleplaying game.

In my Game Demo project, I put very high on my wishlist the emphasis
on a nice toolset and a way for the Gamemaster to control a game.
