First, this post is not associated or endorsed by FASA in anyway.

FASA's web site sucks and is constantly griped about. On a dumpshock forum,
a FASA employee said that FASA knows this is a problem but, in addition to
some other issues with it, "doesn't know where to begin".

Well, I do.

You begin with a good design, a clear picture of what you want. Then, guess
what, you build it. The design is the hard part.

So, I'd like to hold a contest to design a good interface to FASA's web
site. There will be no prices, other than bragging rights. There will be no
reward, only pain and suffering and countless thankless hours. But, if you
can build a site that looks and acts halfway decent, just maybe we can
convince FASA to build it. (Or, at least it might give FASA a place to
start).

The site does not need to be functional. That it, it need not display real
data or allow on-line purchasing. It just needs to be a visual concept of
how you think FASA shadorwun site should work.

Good luck.

Wordman,

>From what I understood, FASA doesn't want any of its loyal fanbase to 'help
them out' with building a website. They don't want anyone doing it for free
and it appears that it weighs heavily on their shoulders. Every offer of
help or assistance has been turned down. I'd absolutely love for me to do
their website...I really would. But if my help is not appreciated [although
my offer, of course, is] then I don't really see the point.

The idea is noble but from reading the same think you did (I assume) I
gather they really don't want any help they are just waiting for a miracle
to happend that will pull the site out of the gutter.

I wouldn't design a page for FASA for free but I would do it for books :)

But it is hard cause should you design something that would be good for
shadowrun or should you take all the games they got into the "job" ?

Personally I think they should remove everything except the front page
until they get it together but then that might just be me.

Maybe the contest gives them needed ideas and inspiration? Though I don't
understand why they don't just pay someone to help them out...
