In the few instances I have "fudged" dice rolls is in cases to avoid simple Bad
Fortune from terminating a Player Character. Certainly I believe in risk and
vulnerability, and I am more than willing to permit a character to expire due
to rampant stupidity...but being dealt a decidedly bad hand by Fate, despite
behaving and considering the situation rationally and intelligently, is not
sufficient reason to expunge a character, to my mind.
