imprisonment of mages/shamans have reminded me of a novel i read..
Marked cards (from the Wild Cards series), now edited by BAEN
written by multiple autors.
In short..
In this world there is peoples infected by a virus who changed
them, they now have different superhuman powers at different
levels.
The governement got is hands on a vigilante and put him in
this "special prison", this could be applicable on the mage issue.
here are some parts
"It was good, in a place like this, to have a reason to live.
Because someday he'd figure a way out of here, past the concrete-
and-rebar walls, pas the titanium bars and the bulletproof glass,
past the armed sentries of the Governors Island Maximum Security
Psychiatric Unit, the coast gards sentries on the rest of the
island, the cold waters of New York Harbor and back to the city
itself, ..."
"He's the shrink who put me in here. a two-hour interview, man, and
me full of anaesthetic: nest thing I know,I'm deckare insane and
slammed in the jug. "
"Shad looked at the featureless cocrete ceiling of his cell. Which
corner's the northwest ? He'd never seen the sun, never been out of
this concrete cage, and he didn,t know."
"Shad's door whirred open, the one time that happened since he'd
been here. "
So, this sould give us a good idea of what it could look like
in a prison for magician. A titanium door, the rest is concrete,
a vid screen, the basic for sanitary purpose, a bed. Never see a
guard, the food would be given in a sliding case beside the door.
A camera on the ceiling, gas injectors to put the "resident" to
sleep if a problem arise and a web of tubes around the cell in wich
a living fluid (bacteriological or vegetal) to keep the projecting
mage in. Bad, real bad.
This could be done specially for dangerous case, but Lone star
or an other security organisation would prefer rentability. They
could put some mage to work, research or forced enrollement. A
collar containing some living things around a mage neck could stop
him from going anywhere astrally.
I personnaly could see some "suicide squad" of prisonners
doing the dirty jobs of some corps to cut their time inside.
Cortex bombs, explosive collars or some other type of security
mesure could be use to ensure their loyality.
