Well, this was a favorite skill of mine in SR2, but in SR3, it goes
under Stealth. Why? Disguise is based on expertise with cosmetics
and a bit of acting, which would default off Intelligence. This makes
sense, however, how would I pull this off? Success-based or what?
This would be Knowledge, except that it takes skill to put the makeup
on, right?

On a related note, has anyone else created any new active skills?

Sure. I just got the Underworld Sourcebook, and there's a
new Active Skill right there: Tattooing. Also, that Hula
Dancing skill I mentioned a while back should really be an
Active Skill...and then there's any of those crazy Centering
skills, plus the Rocker and Snoop skills from Shadowbeat...
the list goes on.

Y'know, I was just wondering: what (if any) Attributes are those
Shadowbeat skills linked to?

And some aspects might be Willpower linked (say, interrogation ... <g>).

That would be easy enough, as it's mentioned in Shadowbeat how to default
to something else for them:

Dance: Quickness
Musical Instrument: Intelligence
Musical Instrument B/R: not mentioned, but per SR3 it would be
Intelligence
Singing: Charisma
Portacam: not mentioned (I assume Intelligence)

Hm, linking Musical Instrument to Intelligence sounds logical, but
wouldn't some manual dexterity also come into play, thus including
Quickness?

As for singing, I'm still grousing about that one...Charisma, huh?
How about Willpower?

Charisma is the better choice, Gurth. It reflects your ability to cary your
message across, to get people to empathise with whatever your trying to
portray with your music. This is clearly a function of Charisma, not your
force of will. I can think of several forcefull people who cant get people to
empathise with them, while several very empathetic people who have NO
willpower whatsoever. (A prime example being the former governer of
Arkansas).

And most music is more a function of rote memorization and regurtiation, over
physical dexterity. Do not forget the creation of Synthlinks which allow the
person to perform without any manual dexterity at all. And anyone can learn
how to finger an instrument well enough regardless of their dexterity if they
are willing to work hard enough at it.

In the end, if it really bothers you, Gurth, make a house rule for your game
that allows 1) the person do default to the higher of the two, or b) defaults
to the Average of the two stats.

Good enough?

Huh? I'm not angelkiller404@**********.com... Plus, I was the one who
mentioned the bit from Shadowbeat where it says Singing _is_ based on
Charisma (page 7).
