Has anyone ever had a character that was a "Master of
Disguise?" Maybe changed their look constantly to keep
out of Lonestar's sights, or to keep alive from their
Hunted flaw. What sort of skills would they need or
cyber/bio ware to make them more efficient (as well as
the Compleat Beard Book).
The closest I've come is a pc at a con who was spotted
on TV as being "the Shooter" (and of course she was
framed). She had blonde hair and she took vinigar and
coffey grounds to alter her hair color and then snuck
out and went to the nearest quicky mart (or whatever)
and got some outrageous makeup and tan-in-a-bottle &
sunglasses. But that was about it.

Well, not my character and not exactly a _master_ of disguise but
anyways he tried O;-)

A little part of a long backstory: He was wanted by Lone Star as he had
a contract put out for his wife. The hitman bummed, (actually I think I
had something to do with that..) and the wife found out.

He began hiding in places he never came before. The docks, Redmond,
Puyallup and my appartment!

He grew himself a beard, let his hair grow, changed the color of hair
and beard, inflicted scars on his own face with a razor - THAT was
hillarious. Bought a used yamaha to replace his 1.4M nuYen modified
Phaeton O;-)

But no, he was no master of disguise. Eventually he was hunted down and
shot.

I have seen more than one site that contains some kind of bioware beard.
Now what would be really interesting would be a retractable cyberbeard,
possibly able to deliver a shock. Couple that with a polychromic coat and
leaving the scene of the crime will be so much easier. :)>

Dude, when I was in elementary school playing hide and
seek or tag during recess, I used to just turn my blue
coat inside out to the red lining and stand in the
crowd, they never found me. So it doesn't even need to
be that sophisticated. Now if you could have one that
changes from maybe a long coat to a short coat...

Its called Reacti-Mesh, its from Cyberpunk, I included it in my Fashion
article, you can multiply the price of any clothing by 2 and have it
size-changing. Chromebbok 4 uses it for an item that "opens up in hot
weather" and a coat that gets longer on demand.

Along the same lines, but more extensive:

a GOOD fake beard, or a real one (and stuff to quickly remove it)
colored, non-vision correcting contacts
long pants and long-sleeve shirt
other, lighter pants and shirt worn under above (shorts/short sleeves?)
totally unremarkable shoes
black leather gloves

Wear the beard, contacts, gloves, and clothes. Commit crime QUICKLY. Find
private location. Remove beard, contacts, outer layer of clothes, and
gloves, in that order (can't have fingerprints, now can we?). Leave junk
behind (preferably somewhere it will take some time to find), or torch it if
you can do so safely and untracably. Now leave. Ideally the events up to
this point should've taken less than 10 minutes. Act normal (whatever that
would be for the situation). Talk to the law enforcement agencies if they
want to talk to you. Give them information that would be reasonable coming
from a normal person, possibly including a description of the person
everyone else saw commit the crime.

Of course, this can become much more difficult when you start looking at DNA
evidence...

Hang on, where the hell did you get inspiration for that? A retractable
beard that can deliver a shock? It would be the last thing your enemies
expect, I admit. "Officer! that man just grew a beard and electrocuted me
with it!"

Our teams regularly get caught in the act and need to change their look.
Getting a doc to tweak your melanin levels, hair follicles and in extreme
cases, entire face is fairly common. One of these days I will invent the
cyber disguise kit and post it for you all.

What a great ending to that story. Really good message to young runners who
think that a bit of hair dye will beat the man. Made me laugh, you have a
storytelling talent there.

I was thinking of those kangaroo drone things from the Archology, they
deliver a shock through their "hair". Come to think of it a retractable
beard would not be that impossible - does anyone more reputable than me want
to write one up?

According to Raveness Ravensbane, at 12:17 on 12 May 00, the word on the
street was...

> Dude, when I was in elementary school playing hide and
> seek or tag during recess, I used to just turn my blue
> coat inside out to the red lining and stand in the
> crowd, they never found me. So it doesn't even need to

Easy enough: make a long coat with some velcro along the bottom edge, so
you can fold it up (_inside_ the upper part of the coat). Then, when you
need to hide, you can lengthen the coat. Another disguise trick you can do
with velcro is to have removable pocket flaps, cuffs, sleeves, belts (the
sewn-on type, I mean :) and so on.

If you also make the coat from ruthenium polymers, you can change its
color, and to a degree the way it seems to be cut (by projecting seams,
folds, and shadows onto it).
