Szeto did a kick ass job, IMO. <laugh> That trilogy Szeto wrote was amazing.

I'm sure Jon is enjoying this as much as I am. I mean I worked hard to
craft Rigger II and would be upset if someone gave the credit for it to
another writer. <laugh>

All in good fun.

LOL Jak!

Glad to see you were cool about it...

(Wish I could finish the DH triology. I can't find Beyond the
Pale anywhere in town...) :(

(Yes, that was a hint. Subtle, neh?) :)

DOH!!!

Two frag ups, one day. Damn, Monday was bad for me. Good thing there
wasn't anything important at stake...

>All in good fun.

Argh. True enough though, true enough.

*sigh*

It's looking like it's going to be one of those weeks...had a long weekend,
I'm fighting a cold, and my brain frazzled out last week...egads I need the
weekend to be here so I can sleep it away...

BTW, Jak, I did enjoy *your* trilogy. It was good to find out what
happened to El Presidente, and all the fallout that entails.

And Jon's Rigger II was extremely cool also.

I think I'll go hide for a while now...

That's one thing (One of many things actually that I was wondering
about....How are they going to convince anyone that's really what happened?
Could be interesting <G>

Also, if you deem to answer, are you going to go on with the Assets gang, or
is the trilogy more like a stand alone like Dead Air was? (For example, Mel
Odom's two books follow the same Shadow Team, Dead Air doesn't/can't do
that...)

Convince who? For us, the players, we know the score. But Jak (got it
right this time) seemed to make it clear that really only a few people know
what happened. I doubt the rest of the world will ever know the truth; the
death of the Big D will probably be a bigger conspiracy theory than
Kennedy's assassination ever was or ever will be. In game, there's no one
to convince, because no one knows.

As for seeing Asset's Incorporated...since Jak and Jon and Steve seem to be
the young turks for FASA right now, I would expect that the answer to that
is yes. But I'm also expected those three to be writing materials for
Shadowrun for at least another year or two, when I'm guessing we'll start
seeing some new major faces.

So while I couldn't confirm that Jak will write another book, let alone one
with Assets, I would be willing to place money on that.

What spirit type is Lethe? He seemed to use either Masking or
Concealment that later would make him a Nature Spirit ... IIRC he
appeared as a shimmering or bright light ... so is he a fire elemental?
Anybody know? I think someone mentioned Jak Koke saying Ryan Mercury was
grade 13 or so initiation ... did he say what spirit type Lethe is?

The first question you need to asku yourself is this ... Have I finished
reading the Dragon Heart trilogy? If -NO-, then please finish reading the
trilogy, and then you can answer the questions on your own ... Book three has
almost all of the details on Lethe that you want.

As for Mercury's grade ... who cares ... just don't give him any stats so that
your pcs won't try to bump him off ...

<snip sig>Lethe, is a unique spirit. At the very end of the last book, Lethe
'remembers' who he was in a previous life, and the fact that he 'sacrificed'
himself to further advance his goals.

Lethe is the spirit of the Big D. He sacrificed himself to "place himself"
in a posistion to defend against the coming horrors. It's part of the unique
magic that I feel is an essential part of the magic system in the game.

He's a Munchie spirit, a rare breed, with unlimited, messed-up powers.

Nah, joking. Actually, I think Lethe would be some sort of, well,
un-summoned free spirit. Usually, I think, free spirits are really just
elementals, nature spirits or allies that got their freedom from the demise
of their masters.

Now, he's surely not an elemental, or a nature spirit (as you pointed out,
too many conflicting powers). And even if Ryan was a level 50 Initiate
munchie from Hell, he couldn't do shit, 'cause he's a physad, and the only
thing physads can conjure is a killer left hook. :)

(If someone tells me he could be a physical magician, there's absolutly
nothing in the three books concerning Ryan's spellcasting. i.e. He don't
cast shit, ya know.)

So I think he's more akin to a Free ally spirit, but born from a great
concentration of mana, instead of being summoned. As we all know, Dunky
killed himself... or let's call it a transformation. So in that regard,
it's plausible that he would have very unique powers, like all mages can do
with allies.

And the thought of beings, spirits, born from conflict, high-mana places,
really opens up some deep playing possibilities. Imagine a spirit born from
the ruins of Hiroshima, or, God help us, Auschwitz. Those would be some
f*cked-up, sick puppies.

Then again, I'd like to see the St-Denis spirit born from the French victory
tomorrow afternoon. :) (Allez les Bleus! Allez les Bleus!)

Yes, I read it and know quite a bit about Lethe ... but ... I don't
recall any significant info describing the type of spirit he'd be ...

No, you mis understood me ... I don't give a rat's ass about Mercury, I
just know Jak Koke made up game stats for at least some of the chars and
was wondering if he mentioned any about Lethe ...

I know, That's why I was asking ... For Nexx's post about the Dunkelzahn

bonuses to summon the spirit type that Dunk turned into ...

Not really. That was a coincidence, I think ... He sacrificed himself to
make the Dragon Heart that would defend against the Horrors ...

Well, ya gotta remeber that if Thayla summoned him as a normal spirit,
he would have become a free spirit when she got bumped off....

I'd go for a free spirit that got bound at it's moment of creation or
something...

I got the first part of the trilogy a couple of weeks ago, and I gotta
agree. I didn't much care for 'im either. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm
going off to grumble about not breaking down and reading spoilers.
