OK, look at it this way. First, remember the medical mark-up. I
guarantee that the U.S.Army doesn't pay anywhere near what you do
for medical items. Second, there is nothing more expensive than
an Army that is second best. Right now we are spending
*BILLIONS* on equipment that has a lower payoff than Wired
Reflexes 2 for every combat or semi-combat troop in the military
would have. Of Course the military will buy it. And under
combat conditions, slow engineers are *dead* engineers. All
combat, or remotely combat, forces will have some level or
another of cyber.
Cops would more likely have Boosted Reflexes 3, but they'll have
it too. Cops don't want to die because they are too slow any
more than you would.
And I *did* say that the average wage-earner *wouldn't* have much
more than a datajack, remember?
And, furthermore, I wasn't *talking* about high-end stuff in
particular, though the more higher-end cyber you had the more
"respect" you would have. I was talking about low-end stuff.
And, if cyber is available, it *will* become stylish amongst
those who feel that they need it. The four groups I mentioned
earlier; Cops, Crooks, Corps, and Military. The more you have,
the more stylish you'll be. And the government will find that
replacing lost meat with cyber is a much better deal than cloning
when you talk about battle casualties. I spent 20 years in the
Army, I think I have a pretty good idea of the way they think.
Given the tech, they *will* use it. As for the DSM-IIIR or DSM-
IV Psych Profile, who cares? What a bunch of shrinks in this day
and age, the ones who wrote that piece of drek, think about the
subject won't mean a thing to the people living under the
condidions the game depicts. Heck, it doesn't mean a thing NOW
when it comes to the Army, Cops, Gangers, or Org. Crime. Psychs
don't have a clue when it comes to the real world. Not a clue at
all. The people living out there on the edge don't *care* what
it looks, or sounds, like to the U^2Cs. They live in a different
world completely. For a peek into that world, as it is right
now, read "Monsta" Cody's recent book on gang life in Los
Angeles.

R.W. The butterknife, or the rubber band, still have to get over
the barrier rating. Monofilament against an armor of 15 just
means that the troll 'only' needs a 16 Strength. Otherwise, no
roll against '2', or anything else, is necessary.
Jeff As for the 350+ karma characters, sure they can throw
spells up to Force 13 if they want to, but taking the drain down
on one of those cookers will probably take most of their karma
pool. Far better just to not get into the position. But, fyi,
you won't see any of them "pray for mercy", from anything. If it
got that bad I can really see Candy dropping a Force 11 Acid Bolt
backed by an extra '50' successes or Diamonds putting all 4
rockets into the thing at 2 meter range, backed the same way or
Da Big 'B' hitting it with a Force 13 Lightning bolt, or Shamrock
with a magazine of APDS on Rock-n-Roll, or the like. We'll worry
about ourselves surviving after trying our level best to waste
the thing. Worked on Grandmother, it'll work on anything.

Yes, I think that there *was* a smaller denomination, way back in
history. But, "Not any more." The modern technique is to simply
count the decimals as M. Kali said. The use-term is "deci-yen"
right now for the .1 Yen amount. It'll work, run it. There
won't be much a person could buy in Shadowrun for less than a nY
anyway.
