For some reason I think people killing off dragons for fun would quickly
find themselves on the receiving end of other dragons' anger...

Ah, but it's almost genetically imbued in the human psyche: kill the
dragon, get the princess, get the money (money rules :), and become
famous. Not only do we have a "long" history of fantasy literature
which activly propagates killing dragons, humankind can't stand not
being on top of the foodchain :)

Just my thoughts,

Martin

Actually they never seem to survive being on the receiving end of the
_first_ dragon.

Since their are so few numbers of dragons, I would think that after the
death of one, they would all come out of the woodwork to destroy the puny
mortals.

Depends on who did it. I don't recall anyone coming out to kill
Ghost-who-walks when he killed Haesllich/Drake. Of course, that's cause
he did it (kinda) with Lowfyr's blessing.

Dracoforms aren't some sort of united group. They have their own wars and
conflicts, and if the weak perish, then "tough titties, Tim".

True, but don't you think that if any group of people hunts dragons (not one
dragon, dragon_s_) just to kill them, the surviving dragons would go after
those peope? I know not everybody owns Earthdawn, but before the Scourge,
the Theran navy kills two dragons because they have shared the secret of how
to survive the coming Scourge with people. The dragons then kill a total of
36 Therans, all of whom had benefited from the strikes against the dragons.
The Therans cease the raids on the dragons, and the dragons stop their
retaliations.
This would be very possible in Shadowrun as well, if you manage to piss off
"the dragons" enough, by becoming too big a threat to them, IMHO.

Exactly, it was with the blessing of another dragon. They have they own
little infighting but a norm screws with one of them, they'll all be
insulted considering the low image they hold of all other people and
creatures.

True, dragons may not be a united group, but they'd probably get really
annoyed if anyone _outside_ their rather exclusive club went and killed a
member. Teams I've run in the past bickered, argued and sometimes even
plotted against each other, but if one of them got in trouble, everyone
pulled together and went after who/whatever was responsible. As you say,
Ghost (as well as being exceptionally good at what he does) had Lowfyr's
blessing - he was only being used as a tool by another 'club member', not
acting independantly, and was therefore 'acceptable'.
