OK, here's the scenario for a little experiment.

You are Mr. Johnson, a fixer in the SR world of 2057.
You have been contracted to hire a team of Shadowrunners.
Your patron wants only the finest team, and ¥ is no option.
The team must contain a runner from each of the four major food groups!
:-)
ie. You must hire one Samurai-Merc/Muscle, one Mage-Shaman/Magic, one
Decker-Otaku/Matrix, and one Rigger/Metal
You can choose ANY character from published FASA SR merchandise, be it
fiction or game material.
Who do you select, and why?

Since it's my idea, here's my draft.

MUSCLE - Kid Stealth "The Murder Machine" from Mike Stackpole's SR
fiction in "Into the Shadows"- Stealth's my choice for muscle because he
is A - professional, B - VERY deadly, and C- more than a little crazy.
Stealth is not likely to break a contract unless he gets screwed by the
fixer.
He has a talent for tactics, the chrome to do the job, and the style to
do it well, and appropriately.

MAGIC - Talon from Awakenings - OK, I admit, this one is a little bit of
a personal choice, but I know more about Talon than what has just been
published thanks to being in the Scrawls from the Sprawls APA with Steve
Kenson, Talon's creator. He's Very sharp, and alert. He has an open mind
about Magic, and isn't likely to overlook something in the heat of the
moment, or miss a clue because it follows a different tradition.

MATRIX - This one's easy Fastjack from . . . just about everything!
We've seen him slap other big league deckers around like babies, and
pull stunts no one else is capable of in the Matrix. He's got plenty of
experience, and a level head to boot. I would've chosen Dodger, but with
his ties to the Elven Immortals, and Renraku's AI, he's got the
potential for being blackmailed into screwing the run all over him.

METAL - This one's not so easy. How many riggers have been in the books?
After a little thought though, I think I'd take Jonathan Winger from Jak
Koke's book Dead Air. Winger has flown military jets, and small bikes.
He has good reflexes, and seems to be very loyal to the groups he works
with. Now I'll admit, I haven't finished the book, so I have no idea if
he's even alive at the end. I would have chosen Rat Tail, from the
Denver book, but anyone who's read that knows why he's a poor choice!

So there it is, my SR Dream Team.
Please feel free, no . . .ENCOURAGED to slam my choices or pick it
apart.
I really want to hear other's opinions on this.
[Maybe that'll help kill all that woodchuck and fluff THWAPCRAP! :-)]

Fastjack isn't dead. If you're referring to the Decker who died in the
story in VR (first edition), his name was Lucifer.

Or has FASA killed off Fastjack without my noticing? In what book?

I've not seen that - perhasp someone could come up with a book *NAME*
at least? Better yet, a page number!

Until I see that though, I'll play doubting Thomas that Fastjack, who
shows up in VR2.0 is dead.

Yep - 'shame about what happened to old blue' page 162 Bottom of
"Entering the Matrix" of SRII.

But - Fastjack LIVES! (And damned if I don't think he's buggering
around in my machine right now...)

What do you base this statement on?
Did I miss something here, or are you (as I suspect) mistaken? :-)

If you have to ask then it's probably classified.
Which means that I have to follow protocol.
But if you ask nicely I might forget that you asked.
Then again maybe not.

Are you perhaps thinking of Saint Louis Blue from p162 of SRII?
Under "Entering the Matrix": "The late, great St. Louis Blue used to
image his deck construct like a carnival tent with a neon sign that said
'This deck belongs to the meanest dude in the Matrix.' (Damn shame
about old Blue.)"
