]If you want something kind of nasty, there is some drug (if you've seen
]serpent & the rainbow (I think)) that does actually exist that will put
]a person in a deathlike comatose state rather quickly, and keep them
]there for a long time. Oh, and as a bonus, the people remain aware the
]whole time. It's made in some culture (Jamician possibly) and the "secret"
]to its production is still unknown (it hasn't been successfully synthesized).


Actually, this sucker _has_ been synthesized, based on the ending
pre-credit info from the movie, and is in use (or derivatives therof) as an
anaesthetic. The name eludes me at present. A truly lovely little drug which
leaves the higher brain fundtions mostly unimpaired. Someone's personal idea
of hell, no doubt.
However, its present form limits its use as a combat drug, as it takes
a couple of minutes for the drug to take effect, even when taken in powder
form.
