In the module Dragon Hunt, the dragon to which/whom the name refers
goes astral in the same way (N)PC magicians can -- totally leaving his
meat body behind.

IMO any initiate can go to the metaplanes, whether (s)he's human, drgon,
ghoul, and what have you...
