Actually, I think Dunkelzahn is just his 2055 name. If I can remember
correctly, Dunzelzahn is a German for "Darktooth" which is the name of
his "human agent" in Earthdawn. Naturally, Darktooth is just Dunky in
his human form. He is known in Earthdawn as Mountainshadow.

Ok I found this on FASA's home page.......

On the night of his triumphal inauguration as President of the United
Canadian and American States, President-Elect Dunkelzahn was assassinated
by person or persons unknown. The tragedy occurred Thursday evening at
approximately 10:30 p.m. EST. UCAS authorities have released no other
details to the public at this time. The people of the UCAS, already
reeling from the scandal of the rigged 2056 election, are in shock at the
unexpected death of the being whom many had come to see as the only hope
for healing their vast and often bitterly divided nation.

It is followed by an ad for the new SR sourcebook....

This raises several questions like:
Is the VP-elect (now prez) really in Damien Knight's pocket?
Why? How? Who?
Is he really dead?

This sort of a plea for spoilers as well. If anybody picks up the
Dunkelzahn's secrets book and answers are in there, I'd be all ears.....

I don't know, but logically (well to me) a dead dragon (if he is dead)
has the hallmarks of cetain guys with pointy ears who should be drawing
their pensions _several_ times over.

I saw that yesterday on FASA's page. My big question is what would once
assasinate a great dragon with, aside from Verigirom or another great
dragon. I think that would be a neat little bit of news.

"Today most of downtown Washington went up in a thermonuclear mushroom=
cloud..."

I doubt that guns would do much against dragon's armor. Unless it was a
really big gun at really close range :) and getting a big gun that close to
a great dragon would have its own inherent problems.

And if we go into the realm of a magical attack on a great dragon, well,
that would probably be even harder than killing him with conventional means,
don't you think?

Dragons are only as tough as the GM makes them.
I have run several dragons against my players. Some of them were pushovers
because I wasn't on top of things, and played the dragon poorly. Other
times, the dragons have been the awesome fear inspiring beasts they should
be. It all depends on how the GM handles it.
As for how I'd kill a dragon - poison! Hey, he may be big, tough, and
armored, but he's still gotta breathe. (Unless the GM does what I'd do, and
give him the lung capacity of a wale, and the ability to hibernate.
Other possibilities include crushing damage - No matter how powerful he may
be, you drop a few tons on his head, and he's toast. - Enlisting other
dragons, or immortal elves to help (They did threaten his life once before.)
- Surface to Air Missiles - Slay Dragon Spells - Ghost Dance Magic.
Personally, I think Dunkelzahn probably died a noble death. I would wager he
cacked off by protecting others from something even worse than himself.
(Then again, I always have had a soft spot in my head for the scaly, little
bugger . . .)

In order: My guess is somebody who doesn't want him telling the world
about the upcoming Scourge. Blown up, if I'm not mistaken. Anybody's
guess.

AFAIK that book's a bit like a combination death insurance/will, but as I
haven't seen it I'm waiting for somebody who has to step forward and tell
us about it... :)

OK I'm stepping forward.

No real answers, but a lot of really good questions... Not to mention one heck of a last
will. Some people are going to get stinking rich. Buy the book. It kicks! ;)

Although a lot of people, having visited FASA's site are aware of this,
many are not, including players, thanks for spoiling an election that
some are only part way through. A few spaces would've helped....

Welp, as I have just returned from a rather harrowing
experience of several
weeks, ending with this year's Gen Con, I can answer a few questions.
(Finally got something semi-important to say.....<smirk>) Dunkelzahn IS
dead. I was at FASA's "Press Conference" regarding the assassination,
and here's what I found out. Dunkelzahn and several Secret Service
agents were killed by a large explosive device detonated inside the
presidential limousine on the night of his inauguration. Although
hundreds of terrorist groups are claiming responsibility, there are no
suspects in custody at the present time. President-elect Kyle Haeffner
took his oath of office at the sad ceremony on Friday. Presidential
Hopeful Kenneth Brackhaven was quoted as following: "Those Who Live By
The Sword, Die By The Sword." Nadia Vadjar (SP?), the president's
translator and executor is the closest survivor of the tragedy.
Other than that, it was a morbidly fun event at the FASA
booth.... with every purchase of the Dunkelzahn SB, they gave away
little bags of ashes... and the 2 people whoes ashes contained the eyes
won a little statue of the Big D, mounted... (looked quite nice,
actually.... was BEFORE they blew him up) <smirk> Black armbands were
all around, and "Cthulhu for President" signs were put over Dunk's
campaign posters... Anyone having any other questions about the
assassination should send me private E-mail... there's probly something
I forgot.....
After I recover more fully, I'll send a summary of my take
on the events at Gen Con.... Including one of the best one-shots I've
ever been on... "The Stolen Child" by Jae Walker.... (hehehe! I was a
finalist!!!) Its been on helluva vacation, but I'm glad to be back on
the list... (Damn. time to sort through all of the list traffic while I
was gone...)
