Cosmetic modifications don't (IMO) cost any essence. Essence
is lost when artificial mechaninisms are placed inside the body I belive.
Cosmetic modifications are just plastic surgury. Very advanced to some degree,
but this is the year 2053.

I know this is a bit off-topic, but you *can* distinguish from a sound directly
in front and directly behind you. The pinna (those fleshy thingies most people
consider their ears, and punch lotsa holes in ;) modify the wavelength so that
the brain can determine where the sound comes from.

Do cyberears actually replace the pinna? In the description, it says that
they're an obvious prosthethis...how so? Can you get your cyberear pierced, if
it does replace the pinna, and can you get it so that it isn't so obvious?

Ooh, I missed the bit about Cyber-ears being an obvious prosthesis, time to go
and check my SR-II book again, Sammy's gonna be real pissed about wearing those
stupid metallic button things on the side og his head. <grin>.

I would assume the better the grade (alpha, etc), the more real-looking they are,
you could probably go to high-class bodyshops and get real-looking ones fitted,
after all, what self-repsecting multi-millionaire is going to walk round with
metal plates on the side of his head because he perforated an ear-drum?

Assuming that they replace the Pinna, then it should be easy enought to get them
pierced, just as a very fine drill <grin>, or replace the earrings with small,
stick-on fridge-magnets <grin>.

How come ears a singled out for all the disadvantages, Cyber-eyes can be made
real-looking, why not ears? Not to mention all the penalites associated
with ears (the essnce slot is so much lower, etc), anyone know why that is?

Phil (Runs-With-The-Pack)
suddenly glad that he went the cheap way and didn;t get his ears replaced to
fit that cyber-recorder.
