Alright, then, here's one Earthdawn topic that's been bugging me,
solely because of it's relevance to SR2. Namely, what exactly this is that
Harlequin (in the short story Doom was so kind to send out) is terrified of
returning. Now, since T.D. said that something big mean and ugly was happening
to Seattle, and since Earthdawn just came out, som people are thinking that the
Horrors are returning. Personally, that scares me, but that's beside the
point. T.D. also refused to talk about Insect races, etc. Whether the two are
connected, I'm uncertain.
But, to get to my point, some people fear that the horrors are coming
to Seattle. Now, in order for that to happen, the magic level would have to
raise, right? (Nod your head yes, please? ;-)) If the magic level were
increased, wouldn't the other races show up first? <Obsidimen, T'Skrang, and
Windlings for those of you not familiar with 'em> These races are the 'more
magical' ones that the five we already know. However, none of these races are
quite as magical as a horror.
Now, we're also given the fact that we will NOT see any new races in
Shadowrun. (Another GenCon relevation. Apparently, the running joke is that
there used to be hobbits, but everybody killed them...) Thus, if we won't see
any new races, it would seem to me that we couldn't see the horrors. I mean,
the Obsidimen should just be able to walk out of cliff faces or something,
they're fraggin' elementals! Not having T'Skrang and Windlings how up I could
understand, but if the horrors are returning, I'd think that at least the
Obsidimen would too...
So, then, what's this terror coming to Seattle? Personally, I think
it's gonna involve insect shamans. But, I can't decide whther or not the
Harlequin short story supports that. Somebody wanna poke holes in my logic, or
tell me something I don't already know about?

Well I think I can poke some holes...... I think that the Horrors are
coming to seattle in the next Harlequin module. My main reason for this is
in the short story that is in the flyer that FASA put out the figure that
is talking to Harlequin (prob a Passion) tells him to "Destroy the bridge"..

Now in the ED rules book on page 23 it tells of a scholar who translates
an ancient book that tells the Horrors are terrible spirits that live in
the netherworlds ie metaplanes and when the mana level reaches a certain
level the Horrors will be able to build magical bridges between the earth
and the nertherworlds. As to why we won't be seeing Obsidimen, T'Skrnag,
and Windlings they prob died out in what ever supposedly happend to the
world between SR and ED to change the world so much.

I believe I have also found a clue as the where Harlequin is from in the
ED world. Again in the TD story it the figure says "I expected more from
the last Knight of the Crying Spire." and Harlequin replies "The Northern
Islands are gone. Forgotten dust of a forgotten worlds." Now in the ED
rule book on page 27 under the heading The Elven Schism where it talks
about some of the elves rejecting the queens command on how to deal with
the Horrors it states 'Word comes first from the elves of the fay-away
Northern Kingdoms. As the elves most distant from the Court at Wyrm Wood,
they feel the least amount of true loyalty to its ways.'

As to what "Thayla's Voice" the thing that will destroy the bridge. She is
prob another passion.
