Since this is a crossover, I thought I'd post it to both mailing lists.

I was wondering if any others that play both the SRRPG and the SRTCG
noticed a little Easter Egg in the artwork on page 132 of the new
Rigger 2 sourcebook.

Check out the computer screen, it reads as follows:

WEAPON SYSTEMS
INSTALLATION SUCCESSFUL
RIGGER INTERFACE 100%
SRTCG ACTIVE
HAVE A NICE DAY

You'll probably also recognize a few familiar TCG faces on the back
cover as well.

Just thought I'd mention it. :o)

Count on this happening more and more. I wouldn't be at all surprised if
the artwork inside SR role-playing books starts to come directly from the
card game.

Though I like crossovers and Easter Eggs and hidden words and all, I've
gotta put a word in for keeping some things separate. Just look at the
amount of back art they could have possibly used, and the amount they
actually did use -- that's sort of the ratio I'd like to keep.

Joel Biske (a member of the FASA art dept) has commented on this on
the SRCard mailing list.

Apparently alot of the crossover art that can be found in the
Shadowrun Companion (Lord Torgo, Fringe Surgeon, etc.) was originally
done for the SRTCG and then ended up being put into the sourcebook.

I figure the crossover art in Rigger 2 came about the same way.

Yep...I actually caught that at my SR session this weekend! My GM has just
"discovered" SRTCG and we are in the process of developing house rules for
our group. So we were kinda hyped on finding it. Yeah, we think we're
kEwL!! :p ha!

Yep, I noticed that one.

And those too. There's also the word "FASA" on one of the office buildings
in the picture on page 63. I just hope they're not going to recycle too
much TCG artwork into the RPG, or vice-versa.

There's also one in the first printing of the 2nd Ed. Wizard's Grimoire that
I noticed was deliberately blurred out in a later printing that a friend
has. IIRC, it's in the section full of spells, and it depicts a wizard's
grimoire; if you've got that first printing, it contains some messages
that some parents might find objectionable in their children's gaming
material...

Yes chummer it does,

I'd forgotten about that easter egg. It's a mage's journal (or
Grimmy) with a bunch of entries/notes/scribblings. It's very, very,
tiny & (nearly as I can tell) it reads as follows (GrimmyII, pg.130):

"Day 10, hi mom hi stacy hi tim [something] [something] craig and
wendy(?) etc. etc."

"Day 8, I bet its very hard to read type when it is this small"

"hmmm? very [?] interesting thingy -->" [pointing at arcane symbol]

"Day 61, We still have no f**king idea what these symbols mean. of
course we are immortal--did you know that loud music will make your
p***s grow to the size of a house! No kiddin! Lookie!--->" [points at
another arcane symbol]

[yet another arcane symbol]"<-----Blah blah blah blah blah blah"
[NEXT PAGE of Journal: large pic of demon dominated page]
"GREAT DEMONS DO EXIST ON THE PRIM MATERIAL"

"This is an example: shown here is the fearsome Kozlow-ski
demon--->"[points at demon drawing]

"Notice ow Big his loin is. He is quite a man indeed!--->" [points at
*another part* of demon]

"That's Big _real_ big!" [nearby *part*]

"Hmmm?" [next to arcane symbol on this page]

(Oh, yea, this one is signed " *MikeN 92* ") <-- Bad, Skuzzy!

(I think I've got the first printing, my GM the second)

Was the writing blurred out, or blotted? Mine is very hard to read (one
might even say "blurred", but readable. My GM has the picture with a couple
of ink-blots covering up the 'objectionable' material.

Besides, what sort of parent would object to the material written in tiny
letters in one of the pictures, which isn't even too bad, when:
there's pictures of guys running around firing guns at each other,
having chunks variously cut, blown or shot off their bodies, and slopping
bits of internal gore all over the place?

Oh no! You could have a child who grows up to talk dirty, rather than be a
nice wholesome killer. What shame!

Stupid indeed.... it happens in most things though, take video games for
instance. 'Soulblade', for the Playstation. One-on-one fighting game, the
characters have weapons, and they beat the snot out of eachother. Now, one
of these fighters has nunchuckas. (sp?). Some guys of the censuring-comitee
can't handle this, so they change it to three chained sticks (Which is a
real weapon to, 'though I can't remember the name right now.), but the 'guv
fighting with a huge two-handed axe is okay? I ask you.....

Strange thing, censorship...

It is a 3 Section Staff. Believe me, it can do more damage than the
nunchukas...

BTW, did you know that spellchecker's suggested spelling for Jod is God?
hehehe
