I don't think Manablast has an elemental affect(effect?) It's just the
name of the spell, like hellblast isn't EE(Blast), but is Elem. eff. (Fire)

Light ray would be a typo, all damaging manipulations are physical.

Wrongo on Manablast. The spell description clearly states that the spell
is area-effect, using the Elemental Effect of Blast. Ditto for Stunblast.
As for Light Ray, I've assumed that was typo.

Wrong! Page 126 of Grimmy II, last sentence of Manablast desciption says,
"This area-effect spell uses the elemental effect of blast."

That was exactly the problem with it -- mana spells aren't allowed
elemental effects according to the spell design rules, so Mana Blast
shouldn't exist at all.

Wrong yourself. The guy you're quoting is right, but for the wrong
reason.

However, in Grimoire 2, p 113, it is stated that "Elemental effects occur
only with physical spells..."

Light Ray is probably a typo, for that reason, and because the Drain code
doesn't fit with it being a Mana based spell.
