Granted. But I don't see any of my players with a Force 12 Elemental...

Would make him spend the Magic point (I've been thinking about it, I
would. That way, it becomes an ally (ie unlimited services), and would
get the standard ally powers. I'd probably also require some serious
karma to go into it, too)

Understood. Now, how would you do it? Would it involve an astral quest? a
ritual? both?

True, he also wouldn't be able to do it as part of an initiation; That's
to easy on the mage, and there's no sacrifice involved.

Probably both. If he wanted to make the ally by losing a point of magic,
i'd just square-root the allies force and round up. That way he starts
with a really really big elemental, and it turns into an itty-bitty
ally-elemental.

The elemental would get all the ally powers, but to keep the elemental
style powers would cost extra karma (not sure how much I'd charage).
Increasing the force, etc. of the spirit would come under the
jurisdiction of a ritual of change, as normal.

The reason I'd square-root the force is that ally services are
unlimited; Last thing you want as a GM is a whopping great big (hard to
kill) elemental summoned up every time the mage needs to burn through a
door, or kill baddies.

There is some precedent for elementals as semi-allies, namely Ariel out
of Harlequin... She was a free spirit though, and was itching for freedom
again. On that note, I'd also give elemental allies some bonus to go
free when their caster takes a deadly, etc.... They're a fair bit more
powerful, and it's their second incarnation in the real world.

Hope that helps a little.

Bleach.
