Whereas Professor Tolkien's elves bear little resemblance to the marvelous,
magical, amoral, cruel, butt-kicking elves of Norse mythology. Tolkien
basically took the Alfar and made them NICE. =)
And I dunno about FASA's elves being that great. In Ireland and Wales they've
stolen the Celtic culture from humans, and there and in Tir Tairgire they're
very racist, as a group.

As opposed to their counterparts in Celtic myths, the Seelie and Unseelie
Courts, which were sort-of adapted into Shadowrun (Tir Tairngire being the
Seelie Court, and Tir'na Nogth [or however you want to spell it because
they're all valid] the Unseelie Court). So what about the Fiana Sidhe? :)

Please allow me to respectfully disagree. The elves of SR are after
all a part of our modern twisted world and not part of some fantasy world
where good intentions are all what it takes :) You cant seriously expect them
to be silly goody too shoes (sp?) when the rest of the world is a mixture
of perversion, greed, egoism and evil. Its either you or them out there
and they are trying to make sure that they'll stay on top. After all they
are a relativelly small and weak group compared to the rest of humanity.
Now if you want to see a true example of benevolent power take
a look at Nial O'Connor - the dude that wrote the Tir NaN Og sourcebook and
makes a guest star apearance in Nosferatu. The man follows the path of the
King (this means MEGA-Power), he bellongs to the most influencial family in
the Tir (a relative of Liam O'Connor - leader of the IRA the man whu freed
Ireland) and yet he is no power-lusting monster. He is actually quite the
opposite, he is the Original Hero(TM), read his views on the philosophy
of the Elves and you will come to understand how and why they think and act
the way they do.

Gaaah. Anyone who thinks that elves are goody two shoes ought to
read a little mythology. The Seelie were only the good guys because
they didn't kill you on sight (almost always) and if they did attack
it was fairly, honorable, and they made your death swift. Unseelie were
bastards from hell. They'd just as soon kill you as look at you (basest
definition). More often than not, they'd embroil you in their schemes and
leave the human to take the fall...slowly and painfully. Not nice neighbors
for the most part.

I don't think that I would classify each nation as Seelie and Unseelie.
Aren't there elements of both in each?

Yes, because they're not really Fey, just human immitations based on
stories. The courts are archtypical; they could not exist in this reality.
