You're confusing Encrypts with things that are actually supposed to be secret.
if you don't want anyone to know something, don't post it. If you want just
a few people to know, reply it straight to them, asking for their address
via Plot-D if you need to.

The Encrypts are there to add "drama", and to avoid making up little details
that can be easily misremembered or aren't important. Ala:

>>>>>[Meet me at ##Encrypt##. I'll be wearing blue.]<<<<<
-- Boy in Blue <12:12:12/12:12:12>

That's how they started anyway. Now, it can include information that moves
a story forward but that wouldn't be public.

Wait a minute; what Jason said makes sense; if you have metagenes in your
system but the mana field is too low, then you won't develop into an elf unless
you live until the Awakening. I don't see a contradiction here, unless your
character was born too soon before the Awakening. . .like the 1700s, or 1800s.
They would have died as humans, since their genes weren't activated and they
didn't have the full benefit of the Elven extended lifespan.

Unless of course you mean that your character grew up in an area that had
enough mana in the Fifth world to support metagene activity. That's another
propsal altogether.

Which characters are you referring to? Is this why I saw a reply stating
that Princess and Cerise were normal, after-the Awakening Elves?

That is not what *mein Freund* said. The rules are guidelines, it's one thing
to stray outside the boundaries, quite another to use something that is
proscribed or especially advised against (vampire PCs). And it isn't so
much the singular violation of these ideas, but that so many people are
doping it it's absurd. These "neat characters" are kinda boring when
everyone does the same thing.

It's not who he is. I think the analogy was meant to show that your rather
powerful character is well-suited to the "master-sensei" role rather than
out there fighting and taking shadowruns.

> Just a question... who is Dark Elf?

Vinnie Esposito, one of the most prolific posters of last year. If you
read the logs of last February and March, you'll see where his handiwork
led us. Unfortunately, he is not here this year; no one knows where he is.
I think a tiger got him.

> And who are the Big Three and the Shadow World?

I've probably got this wrong, but Wendell Trevor, Lincoln Howe, and
Roger Quention. Or it could include Dr Fung, or Tirandor the Dragon (Grrr),
or even Monica.

But, rather than revel in the past, let's try to get the same quality in the
present and future.
