] This meant to be a general comment, not a flame. It seems to me that a lot
] of you have too much Shadowtech in your campaigns. According to Shadowtech th
] is is supposed to be very rare stuff, cutting edge. I think that that may be a
] source of a lot of the arguments on the net is that different campaigns use di
] diffferent standards. For example, I would not allow (were I still using
] 1st edition), the use of karma to buy an auto success for finding a clinic.
] On a side note, the way I do karma pool is that if you earn more than 10
] points of karma on one run, then 1 point goes to the karma pool. I think
] that is what FASA intended, but that is only a personal opinion.

Predator:

In some ways I can agree with you. However, especially for those
whining about "I agree" messages, let's see if I can play a
quazi-devil's advocate and maybe synergize this topic.

I agree it is rare. Beyond that my group has all agreed that
we are not allowing players to start with any bioware which
competes with currently existing cyberware, for instance,
Synaptic Accelerator v. Wired Reflexes. The stuff that cannot
be duplicated by existing cyber is allowed sparingly. We have
one gent who just created a Rigger who wanted an Orientation
System so we figured what the heck. (BTW: Anyone else wondering
if this sorta tech could be placed in the vehicle that a rigger
jumps into, possibly a drone, rather than in the rigger's flesh?)

However, if it is cutting edge, and your runners can't access it
then they ain't cutting edge, which in my area of the Sprawl means
you are pretty much nothin more than a walking corpse.

Also, if this stuff is so cutting edge and rare, then why the
target numbers for availibility? Some of this stuff is insanely
low.

As far as Karma used to find a clinic, I have no problem with it
in my campaign. We don't give karma out like candy in our campaign
so if a samurai wants to burn it to find a clinic, we have no
problem with it; however if he brings *anyone* along with him to
that clinic (others trying to ride on his success) they had better
bring mega-nuyen to explain themselves... I'd hate to see a laser
scapel slip in the middle of surgery if ya know what I mean.

As far as the standards used in campaigns; I hope to hell they
are different- I'd hate to think we all thought alike. But I
always thought the point of this group was to demonstrate these
differences so that we can examine, reject or adopt the standards
used by others in order to enhance our own campaigns. Well, at
least that's what this group will be for once we move all
these shadowbabblings to another group!!! :)

BTW (Pt. II) While I have yer attention, can we tighten up the
shadowtalk a bit? I mean some of these conversations are not
posted properly. Why does it bug me you ask? Well I use ELM and
have finally figured out how to use the Filter command so it
pretty much has removed all the shadowtalk messages, with the
exceptions of those not posted as such. And until it is split
from this group (if it is) it would be awful nice of you folks
to help those of us who can ignore it to do so. Thanks.

Yup. It can be either (for flesh) headware memory & a retinal link,
or a modern day thing called E-tak. E-tak (which is commercially
available in 1992) shows your current location, and can tell you
where certain things are located, closest route, etc. It's no great
shakes to put that into a vehicle. Considering the technology curve,
putting them in flight-capable drones shouldn't be a problem
