<snip alot of gun stuff>
There is a huge difference between the quality control on the government
contracted M9 Berretta and the civilian market model. Anyone who has
handled and M9 knows what I'm talking about--they ware down easily, they
rattle, it feels like they will fall apart in your hand. The civilian
model is tight, well fitted, and a hell of a lot less sloppy. Part of
this is the fact that M9s are issued out to a wide number of people, and
each person inevitably puts rounds through them during training etc., a
lot more rounds than most avid shooters put through their civilian
handgun, but there is still a distinctive difference.
Which leads me to a point on Shadowrun...
Does anyone use a system for equipment degredation, maybe tied in with
an increased chance for a botch?
This thread got me thinking about a character I played who put a lot, I
mean A LOT of rounds through his Manhunter, during both practice at a
range and runs. He took good care of it, cleaning it frequently, but
sooner or later, the thing would just ware out (granted, most guns can
take tens of thousands of rounds before any serious problems occur).
Also, what about a cheaper version of the same gun, say the Ares
Predator, that was contracted out to another company, the way Berretta
(Italy) and Taurus (Brazil) are tied together. There would inevitably be
some difference in quality, but the crappy one might be cheaper...though
I don't suppose many players would buy the cheap "Econo-Predator." :)
And other equipment too. I mean if you take a Fairlight Excaliber with
you into the Yucatan and failed to pack it properly, that humidity's
gonna kill ya ;)
Just curious if anyone has done something like this or has rules for it,
