Meine Kamaraden...

From Herr Roberson:

>So MY question (belated, I realize) is, can such a mage do it from any
>distance, or must he be in the presence of the masked character? I.E. I give
>Satan Doll the Samurai an Increased Reaction Spell Lock; do I have to stay
>with her all the time to keep it masked?

No, one implement Masking to hide foci upon one's own person (if I remember
correctly, I do not have the books with me). For obfuscation of bonded
material separated from the magician, one may engages in an Astral Quest to
conceal the linkage betwixt bonded objects and the magic user. This is, again,
a power available only to Initiates, and as such, non-Initiates and mundanes
are again left out of the loop.

]>Do Increase/Decrease attribute (and combat sense) spells have any
]>effect on a mage in astral space?
]>(ie: does an increase will spell on a mage increase their astral
]>will.)

>No.

>A complete reversal on hi previous ruling on the matter. In the errata provided
>over the summer primarily by Doc X, the same question was asked and we were
>told "yes". I will examine the rest of my errata and compare to this page in
>hope of uncovering further reversals.

Hmmmmmmm...I was not present during the summer session.

>In the cases of NON-hardened armor, proceed to make the roll. There is the
>chance of damage, in the event of a critical failure.

>Is this meant to imply that no roll is needed in the case of hard armor?

Yes, it means that it "bounces" in such instances. My answer's origins is
within the conversation I had with the Dark Lord; I inquired, "If a character
is wearing armor of higher rating than the power of the weapon used against
him, does it have any effect, does it just ricochet?"

He replied, "No, it's not hardened armor...." Which would cause me to infer
that in the cases of vehicular or other type of hardened armor, a higher armor
rating than weapon power results in a ricochet.

>This is a legitimate question, although the system is not designed for this
>sort of idea, admittedly. My suggestion is that you just DON'T do it, as I
>can't think of an acceptable way of doing it. You might just say that because
>it's different ammunition, there's different recoil, and thus it'd be a bad
>idea.

>Not the first time he's sidestepped a question. One could argue that the
>change in recoil is negligible, or even that after a time thefirer becomes
>accustomed to them (though finding enough ammo to gain proficiency at this
>rather obscure skill should be difficult. I need more than "it's a bad
idea".

His answer was based upon more than merely "it's a bad idea"...the system, as
it exists now, simply does not possess the apparatus to allow for this
contingency.

>I humbly reiterate my solution: Break such actions down into separate bursts.
>In the original example ) 1 explosive, 2 APDS) treat as a two-round short burst
>of APDS and a single explosive round, resisted seperately. Apply Combat Pool
>rolled to each(as in, I roll 5 CP dice; using the same roll I gauge successes
>against the APDS and against the explosive round).

This, however, were a Game Master so inclined, may afford an interesting
procedure.

>Thank you, Herr Doktor, for your time and effort in collecting the information.

You are quite welcome.

This particular instance has proceeded forth with such ease that I would be
inclined to perform this service again (for the salvation of all phone bills),
at some time in the future. My thanks to those who dispatched their queries to
me, as they all adhered to the stipulations which I stated in my original
communique.
