J,

The reason why I wanted to avoid the magic regaining is from this reasoning.

Essence and Magic are tied together. If that were TOTALLY true then
a loss of a point of magic (near death, ally conjuration, etc.) should
also cost a point of essence. But this is not the case. Only the persons
ability to handle magic is decreased. The same should hold for this. The
loss of essence does reduce magic handling ability. But the magic handling
ability should not be healed by healing the body. I agree it should help.
But it should not directly be regained.

Thus something else should regain lost magic points. In the game this
is Initiation.

I believe this is somewhat sound.

Is this reasonable or just hogwash.

BTW: Ever have a period of nastalgia were you here a song and you
miss the good ol' days?
There is something very primal about a bunch of guys playing Skid Rows -
"Get the F*ck Out".
Maybe I will let my hair grow REALLY long again and sharpen my riffs.
Anyone looking for a slightly rusty lead guitarists?
