More trouble with my SR3 conversions, this time about knowledge skills. I
donīt think Iīve gotten the hang of it quite yet and Iīm having a terrible
problem deciding what knowledge skills to add. Is Computer Background the
equivalent of Computer Theory in SR3 or have they skipped the theory skills
altogether? I donīt know exactly what kind of decker knowledge skills my
character would have so I would like to hear what kind of knowledge skills
you people think are useful for deckers to have, how they work and why they
are essential.

So post your bet on the essential decker knowledge skill. Which are the most
common and why?

Tired from watching the Eurovision contest,
Uriel

I think having "Computer Background" would basically be knowing what the
computer skill is used for. Afaik, SR3 doesn't give any special use for
that skill besides as a default in place of "Computer". Computer Thoery may
be a possible knowledge skill, but its use isn't covered in SR3.

That's exactly the sort of thing "The Matrix" will cover, and
(unfortunately) its not due out for while still yet.

According to Johan Strömberg, at 1:10 on 14 May 00, the word on the street
was...

I believe so. Computer Background is all the theory stuff for computers,
just like Magic Background is the theory about magic.

A reasonable guide for "typical" Knowledge skills are the sample
characters. A good one to take is <character type> Hangouts, BTW.

We were lucky, they canceled the Europe-wide disaster in favor of a
national one ;)
