Hey there, did anyone go to this year's Gencon down in Camber Sands?
I had to miss it this time, and the guys I would have gone with
didn't sign up for the SR game. Did anyone on the list play it?

What I want to know is; was it better than last year's rather
dodgy Rock-band extravaganza? I mean, it is called Shadowrun,
after all, not Dark-jog, Wet-Work, or for most of us; Shadow-Beat.

Phil (Renegade, who is not missing next year's, no way).

I was at UK GenCon [I've been to all of them except last one; I'm Bert
from Eurolog, the hairy guy who runs the Battlesystem all weekend]. I
didn't get to play in the SR tournament, but my friend Kate did, and she
said it was brilliant. But she liked the previous one, which you don't
seem so fond of. She hasn't told me too many details, but she thought it
was good. [She won the AD&D Open, though, and got a free ticket to US
GenCon, lucky sod - although I'll be going, too, I have to pay!!]. She
generally favours the same style of shadowrun as me, so its a fair bet
that there was only a little combat, a lot of roleplaying, and a fair
amount of background.

Hope that helps,
Bracket, Eurolog GM.

I heard something about a TSR run convention in brighton sometime
this month. Anyone know anything more?

Good for her, maybe I'll head out that way this year... maybe.

I heard about her winning the open, it sounds like she deerved to, although
the guys I would have gone with pulled 2nd in the team, and came back with
this bad-ass attitude that she didn't deserve to win.

Still, they're all traditional cardiff lads, and spent a lot of the weekend
drunk. Why bother drinking (too excess) at Gencon when you can do that at
home? Idjits.

Is that BoatCon? I heard that it was planned, and then cancelled. TSR's
idea of getting 200+ gamers on a ship off Brighton didn't appeal to many
people!

I'm only going because she wants me to.......

I could really upset them, and admit it... my friend Barry was in the
team that won the team competition! :)

I think she deserved the win. But I would, wouldn't I, being her friend?

I'd agree with that. I spend all my time GMing at GenCon. Last time, I
only had 1 alcoholic drink over the entire weekend [largely because if I
drank whenever someone offers me one, I'd fall over by the end of day
1!!!].

As a few folks have expressed interest.

I have talked to TSR again. The event is on, 28th-31st August,
Loughburgh University, England. If you have already expressed an
interest in it to them information packs next week or so otherwise
contact TSR locally to get full details, regestration etc.

I will try and keep this to one list post. (some hope)

Ok TSR have finally gotten the delegate packs out.

I just had a look at my email records and list wise,

Myself
Gurth
Pulla Stefanie (and)
Mike (Leszek Karlik)

have shown at least some interest to the list.

There is an RPGA SR event, slot 11 (=8pm to midnight) on the Friday
29th Aug.

Mechforce UK are going to be there 'in style' supporting Battletech.
As expected there are
Members, open (3 round competitions, the rules will be similar to
those on FASA's web page for such events but i wouldn't guarantee
identical based on past experience)
Computer (Mechwarrior 2 i assume, head to head with PC's - they don't
give any details of what this setup will ential though)
Card (yep the Battletech card game)
-----

If anyone has any (easy) enquireies today atleast i have the
preregistration pack and a computer both within arms reach (for about
2 hours)

Mark
