Ok... I want to run an idea past everyone and see what tey think...

Ok... I'm running a group. it's a fairly new group. Tomorrow night will
be our 4th or 5th game session.

Anyways, I'm running the events from Elven Fire, though not the Module
Itself. Basically, there is another Runner Team in Seattle that are plying
out the events in the Module (and botching it:)), and my group is catching
the fallout of it all.

Their last couple runs have involved gangs, adn I've been playing up the
heightened gang activity in Seattle. The Gangs are all out for each other
now, and the National Guard is about ready to get called out, plunging the
city into chaos.

Meanwhile, the runners are in the middle of a run. They were hired by a
Rich old guy to "retrieve" his daughter. She had run away from home, and
was now the girlfriend of a leader of a faction of teh Ancients. The
runners were told to bring the Girl home, using whatever means necessary as
long as she was brought ome unharmed.

Well, they were rather Noisy about their search (This branch runs the
Puyullap Barrens), and were very blunt about their search. When they
finally stumbled onto a group of the gang, they got cocky and arrogant with
them and ended up fighting a dozen of them (There were 6 runners). they
shot up the gangers, but took a LOT of damage themselves.

Well, that's where things stand. They have a little info, and now have the
Ancients wanting their heads on pikes...;]

Well, here's the twist that I thought of toight. I didn't want this to be
a simple gunfight. that's too easy. I dcded I wanted to put a MAJOR twist
into this, so I brainstormed tonight, and came up with this:

Both Daddy and the Daughter are really Dragons! She's his Daughter still,
and is a VERY young Dragon (I'm considering having her just hatch when the
Awakening hit. i have no clue what the physiology of a dragon is, but it
sounds plausble). So she's fairly weak, as dragons go, and getting a kick
out of living with (meta)humans and pretending to be one.

Daddy on the otehr hand, thinks this is a BAD idea. So when he finally
tracks her down, he wants her brougyht back to his guidance and training.

This can make things VERY interesting, I think, and will drive a couple of
my players looney, because they play with Tinner as well, and I know Mark
(aka Mr. White) keeps hoping for a more "straightforward" game with me
running...

Hehehehe... Silly fool...

What do you think?

Any further ideas, etc. would be appreciated here...:]

As a side note, Gang activity over here is getting annoying. Hell's
Angels and Bandidos are having a 'war'.. and man do they like
overkill. It's not shootouts, or drive by shootings.. they use bombs
and missiles. This is real, I'm not kidding here. How it'd be in
2050? Don't worry about giving gangs too heavy weapons...
you can't.

*SNIP dragon idea*

Well, ok. What about these for a twist..
He wants her for spare parts. (She's a genetic match, and he's after
her heart.). What'll the runners do then?

She stole a chip from Big Corp X. It contains some very interesting
passcodes. She's planning to sell it to the highest bidder, and the
Ancients help her arrange it. So when the runners crop up, two or
three corporate Johnsons with backup crop up.. and a few fixers, too.
(Perhaps some known to the runners?).

She's actually been kidnapped by the Ancients.. and sent to China,
where her new, illustrious career lets her meet lots of rich people.
The girl they think is her is someone else.

These are the more 'normal' versions. After reading 'Books of Magic'
I prefer the theory that dragons aren't born as dragons; they're
powerful mages passed on to 'the next stage'. But that's another
discussion.

Let's see. The old geezer is a vampire, and she is his great -grand -
grand - grand daughter.. and he wants her to follow the family
tradition. She fled into the arms of her earlier boyfriend when she
realized, which has heroically defended her from the old geezer's
minions so far. And now he's finally down to sending 'hired help'.

Or, she's really a powerful free spirit. She haunts him daily, making
his life a living hell. He sent the runners in the hope of getting
her in his control. (Since she's locked in a homunuculus shape very
reminiscent of a little girl, it can work... except for a few
details.).

I think bringing in a plot like that might prove interesting but it
also might cause some problems. As in what if they decide to battle the
daddy. He would totally kick
some runner butt. And what is fun about that, sure it's good to make it hard
to accomplise the goal but not make it impossible. My group I gm is content
with
a challenge but they also don't like the impossible missions and tend to
lose interest if it goes that way. I would make daddy and his daughter
vampires or something not as powerful. This would make a challenge to most
pc's and could prove just as fun.

Oh well, the runners will learn quickly not to judge everything by its
cover! :) A very important rule that I learnt at an early stage of playing
Shadowrun. BUT yes I agree that the PC's will get very bored if they have to
take on impossible missions all the time.

Maybe give them some clues that the old guy is a dragon. (Dont ask me what
clues I havent thought of any good ones) ;)

I like your idea, and it sounds like a fun adventure to GM - when it is
finished can you email me HOW it went?

Cheers,

Gav

Why doesn't Daddy go get his daughter himself? Is he busy with something
else that's more important than his daughter. Could make for fun
roleplaying if the daughter asks the players this question, "If he really
loved me he would come himself <pout>."

You could have a lot of fun catching the players between a rock and a

I thought that was standard rpg-group procedure... we all read the books
that someone else is so kind enough to buy! I stopped buying them after
about the 5th novel, I figured "Hey, if he's gonna buy them and let me
borrow them... what the hell." :)

Actually, for me this is as much a game matter, as my desire to own ALL SR
products!

Since I DO accept novels as canon, and as such they are FULL of spoilers
for my games, I want to preview each of them before my players.

Since I was planning on usin Harlequin and Horrors in my campaign, I didn't
want my players reading Worlds Without End right away.
Likewise, before we did Universal Brotherhood, I made sure to keep 2XS off
limits.

Sure, the ladz are sponging off my book collection, but hey ... it keeps
them from learning too much too soon.
