I should have mentioned my game and its house rules are all for 2nd Ed.
I have barely touched SR3, so my knowledge of it is sketchy. :)
IMHO the sensation would be somewhat unsettling, as someone else's spiritual
body just passed through yours. I use numbness, but a chill or a feeling of
deep disturbance works equally well. The point is that you know it happened
and did not like it. I never apply any game mechanics to the situation.
Nothing adds to the tension of a run like telling player they feel a flash
of pain in their arm, followed by a slight numbness. Right away, they wish
they were near the mage so whatever just danced over their grave could be
identified. Anything that brings home the pulse pounding uncertainty of a
run for the players is ideal. ;>
