If it helps at all, a similar situation happend in the FASA tournament
Bull, Dvixen, I , Caric, Buck and Mike P. played in.

We were given a parcel to be carried to our next check point. The
parcel had a ward attached to it, and unbeknownst to us a chunk of
Strain III had attached itself to the ward.

Anyways, the jist of it is the our mage eventually noticed the ward
weakening and that the Strain III was the cause. It was inevitable
that the ward would collapse, and we had to come up with inventive
ways to prevent it and keep the Strain from moving on to something
else.

Now that's a tournament sanctioned by FASA. So I'd say an offical
answer to your question is yes, Strain III will eat through a barrier
or ward if given the chance.

Well, threats was kinda vague on its capabilities, but if it was my
campaign I'd say it wouldn't have much of a problem getting through a
barrier. They're small little buggers, and the barriers allow air to
pass through.. which means they allow bacteria, which means the fab
stuff will go right through.

And gobble away on the spell at the same time, of course.

Specific rules for using FAB III can be found on pgs 92-96 of
Target:UCAS... [EGMG] ..Now those of you who know me know I hate FAB
period..But I just could not resist adding this bit of plot twist to
the GenCon Tourney...What FAB III does is adds the rating of the
barrier/magic item to its own rating..And when it hits rating 10 it
breeds [EGMG]..And can then attack multiple magical targets..

I really haven't read up on Strain III, but from what I've heard, wouldn't
it eat the Mana Barrier as an aperitife(sp?) and save the foci for the main
course?

Would seem reasonable, i would expect the barrier to stop the FAB
till it fails simply because its the first thing it tries to eat, so
it will meet that food source before the foci. Of course its now
stronger so eats the foci faster :)

It would eat the barrier, then go through and eat the foci. It would take
time measured in hours/days for it to eat the barrier though, so it would
work at least temporarily. That is unless it is inside the barrier already.

Also, I you want more info on FAB Strain III Beta (or Mark 2, or whatever)
look inside target UCAS if you can get a hold of it.

Like wrapping it with the FAB, filling the fridge with dirt. I think maybe
we should have made Mr. Confidence swallow it. ;)

Watch the dirt! (And no more flare guns.)

YEARG!!!! That is something I didn't need to know.

But I'm *not* gonna complain at this point. My players will hate it! *grin*

LOL..This I think was the most original attempt to stop the FAB III
from spreading..

Why do I feel like I missed something here? Somebody needs to explain
exactly what happened at GEN CON to me. Apparently I missed a lot of fun.

*shrug* The only problem being it would have infected him, I think...

Which reminds me. I think Quicksilver would get him rip roaring drunk on the
most vile concoctions of alchohol he could think of. And then watch him deal
with the hangover. (With video tape, of course....)

We're all referring to a run we took part in, the Shadowrun tourney, 'A
drive in the country.'

Basically we had to race from point A to B, with all the fun things that the
GM's could come up with... Check the logs for early august for the rest of
it. ;)

(And to my players, the lgos are off limits. You'll 'accidentally'' read

Thanks. I sort of figured that was the case. Is this where the list was
pretty much a team and you finished second overall. I may have to check out the
logs, it sounds hysterically funny especially with flare guns and dirt filled
refrigerators in the same train of thought.

tell the whole thing in one chunk...

I'll trya dn write up an overview tomorrow... I was going to do that when
