Yeah. I've also done the million-nuyen samurai, with only _maybe_ 100K nuyen
of actual gear on him in any given run / adventure. Had permanend squatter
lifestyles in about fifteen cities around the globe, complete with basic,
minimum gear and some cred in each, along with a fake ID or two. Was great,
everyone else worried about being tracked down, all I did was ask the GM
"which country THIS time?"

Um, this might cause a problem (depending on the intelligence and resources of
whoever is chasing you if you have to use these SINs).

A SIN that's never been used can stand out when it is used.

Let's say you buy a nice basic SIN in 2056 and stash it. In 2058 you're in a
heap of trouble and go into hiding and start using the SIN. Someone could run
a search program to look for any SINs that have been quiet for awhile and
suddenly pop up, and then send their boys to check those SINs out.

If you're going to have back up SINs I suggest using them every once in a
while.

Why do you think I used a locker in a bus terminal? ;-) A mite harder to
break into, those ...

Now, as to what I put in a safe-house environment, here's a sample list:

Medkit
--> refill packs, 2

Electronics Kit

Pistol #1 (whatever I use as primary pistol)
--> 1 clip APDS
--> 2 clips standard
--> 2 clips gel
--> concealable holster

Pistol (this would be a copy of my backup)
--> 1 clip APDS
--> 2 clips standard
--> 2 clips gel
--> concealable holster

Survival Pack
--> 20 days of ration bars

Armor (may differ based on character):

--> Form Fitting Body Armor, L3
--> EITHER a Secure Long Coat
--> OR a "Mortimer of London" trenchcoat.
--> Forearm guards, if the character uses them

Clothing (specifics depend on the character)

--> 2-3 sets of clothes for each level of dress, potentially (for the
cred-heavy characters) including some of the _armored_ Tres Chic found in
NAGTRL

Miscellaneous:

--> False ID/Credstick, rating 4-6, with 1K to 2.5K nuyen in assorted
certified sticks and cash.
--> White Noise Generator, rating 3-6
--> Pocket Secretary, with booster
--> 2 or more Maglocks, rating 2-5, per CorpSecHB
--> Expendable fetishes, replacement reusable fetishes, a second CD or chip
copy of any hermetic library, 5-10 force value of ritual materials, a like
amount of elemental conjuring materials, for magically active characters.
--> Docwagon (basic) coverage contract documantation under the new ID

Now, to this, I might add other, more specialised equipment. For example, a
replacement (lower-quality) deck, along with backups of EVERY program, for a
decker. My last character kept backups of all his skillsofts ("why learn a
skill when you can buy it for 50% off at K-Mart?" ;-), and a backup copy of
his primary weapon on runs (an Enfield AS-7 autoshotgun, tricked out nicely I
might add) with ammunition (ofc), and a spare suit of Camoflage armor (per
FoF).

Basically, I take about 20% of his starting money, and that goes to the perm
lifestyle AND the gear, if and when I want a bolt hole.

On rare occasions, I;ve done this more than once (I once wanted a 500K
character, so I made two bolt-holes: one nice enough (300K nuyen is almost a
new CHARACTER), the other serviceable (as is the 100K nuyen I had left!).
Buying a permanent Low Lifestyle just as a bolt-hole makes your GM sit up and
pay attention, anyway. And the ther 5 permanent Squatter lifestyles
scattered across the city, each with minimal gear and supplies (pistol,
knife, 2-3 clips of ammo, 1 change of normal clothes, long coat, a couple
hundred nuyen, survival kit) kinda helped the impact too.

Almost as bad as my "Mr. 100 Contacts" independant journalist did ... <g>

And yes, I spent 500K on getting 98 extra contacts and one buddy (a free
spirit, just for the change). He knew EVERYONE'S secretary ... or someone
who DID. <g>
