O.K. I am an idiot.
I erased my FAQ, how do I get a new one?

Couple of questions occurred to me as I read the FAQ
that was referenced recently.

The FAQ states that cybereye accessories in the free
slot do not benefit from being alphaware - do they
still have to be bought as alphaware (being
accessories to a piece of alphaware)?

Also in the MITS section on enchanting it states:

Most adepts would use a hermetic library, though the
character's personal outlook may affect this. An adept
following the Totem Way would likely use a shamanic
lodge.

Does this mean all shamanic adepts can make lodges?
They are very effective magical wards...

Steve

Yes, parts of any alphaware piece of cyberware _must_ always be alphaware.
as stated in SR3

I can't remember the canon off the top of my head but I don't think your
average adept can write a hermetic library. Therefore an adept following
the shamanic shouldn't be allowed to create a lodge, especially not just to
get a magical ward...

According to Lone Eagle, on Fri, 15 Nov 2002 the word on the street was...

Why would the adept need to _write_ the library? It seems to me that mages
buy most of the books (files, whatever) in their library, with perhaps
notes or summaries that they write themselves; I'd think only those mages
who actually research magic would write books and articles on the subject
that get put into other peoples' libraries. IOW, most mages would probably
just be consumers, so why couldn't adepts be, too?

I don't know, it just gates against (my perception of) the Somatic Way, I
just don't see Adepts reading books to learn their abilities and therefore
I don't see them reading books for any other magical purpose, nor do I see
them building Shamanic lodges (especially not just to get the magical wards)
I don't have a problem with an adept collaborating with a Shaman (of the
same totem) to build a lodge but I don't see the adept having the same
connection as the Shaman.
