It will be great to have Mike on the list, but, since he is a busy
guy, at least for the first week or so he is on, try to keep the questions
down to a minimum, and please don't start asking him basic stuff, or any of
the supercalafrajalistic ammo grounding through elves stuff :)

Is Gen-Con next weekend, just before Christmas, or somewhere in between?

Hmmm... A whole month to line up questions for him. Boy, is he in for it. I
think we should go with Fro's suggestion and show some restraint when he
shows up so we don't scare him off. Unless of course he says, "fire away",
in which case we let him have it <grin>.

You're assuming that he's going to get thru GenCon intact. You see,
I'm going to be there - and I'm bringing my list with me. BWAHAHAHA! :-)

Gen Con is the world's largest rpg convention, in Milwaukee, held at
MECCA annually... I'm still trying to get some coordinated effort for
listmembers to meet there this year, since last year I was too busy
playing Shadowrun and throwing heavy objects at magic players. <smirk>
We had a sign-up sheet... but everyone signed it, and noone showed
up.... Well, anyone who is going, at least let me know what SR2
events (or others, I suppose) you are playing in, so if we bump into
each other, there's a greater chance for identification. <Still working

It'd be better to have him on ShadowRN, if you ask me. Most talk about SR
is here, not on ShadowGM, which gos more like "Okay, I have this adventure
idea, what do you think?" or "My players want this and that, how do I go
about it?"

BTW, Droopy, what's your relationship with FASA anyway? You don't happen
to be Mike Mulvihill in disguise, do you? :)

You know, I'll understand some of this. Whats the point of bringing up the whole
grounding/quickening thing again when it really doesn't matter. Just allow it if
you want to or don't. As long as the players and GM agree beforehand, it really
doesn't matter.I thought the point of gameing is the roleplaying. "Rules" are
there just to provide a guide (or even broken). Like I said before, it really
doesn't matter.

One: Arguing about such rules is the primary purpose of this list.

Two: Wether you can ground through quickenings or not (and, equally
important, if you can, WHERE do you ground out) is a question that
affects the way magic behaves in the game. It's not just a matter of
saying "Okay, I'm going to allow it", or whatever... the choice can
affect how magic itself works. Now, if you, as the GM, doesn't give a
damn about internal consistency, that's fine. However, the game designers
should care, so they SHOULD come up with an answer. That answer can be
arbitary, but they should take care to see how it fits into the "theory"
of magic they are developing.

Three: It's an ambiguity in the game. Ever changed groups?

I should be so lucky. No, I'm a licencee/rabid gamer/hopefull writer. I
spent lots of time on GEnie for a while back when FASA was supporting it.
We did the same basic stuff there as here, except we had FASA's feedback.
Made for fun when ED first came out and we insited that SR was connected,
using examples even, while Tom Dowd insisted it wasn't true. <BG>

Why not wear t-shirts, hats or buttons of a certain type. That's how all of
us Online Mechwarrior folks used to ID each other at Gen Con.

If not everyone has a ShadowRN t-shirt, almost all the gamers should have...

THE RPG KIT!

1. a t-shirt (preferably related to the game you're interested, if you don't
own one, made it up using a white shirt and some red paint, drop some spills
of paint over the shirt and when one asks you about it say: "I have a
serious wound" or "only three hit points left" or something similar)

2. a badge (get some vampires pins or glue a bottle cap upside down right in
the center of the previous red paint spills "that's the body armor that
saved me")

3. a rucksack with coffeine drinks and potato chips. Your mileage may vary.

4. a deck of magic cards to be used in place of money to light some
cigarettes in front of real magic players. Have you noticed the logical
error in the previous sentence? Have you ever seen REAL people playing
magic? Me no.

5. dice. At the convention games, drop 30-40 D6 in front of you, grab a
charsheet from your rucksack and begin: "well, 9 for the skill, 9 for the
combat pool, 9 from the power focus..." well, you got the idea.

6. magazines. While pretty heavy, they work wonders to sit on it, sleep on
it, throw them....

7. a notebook. Write your notes with a serious look while looking at games
and suddenly someone will come up to ask you serious questions about a game
you never heard of.

bye, Paolo

Is this the most amount of mail you've sent to the list in the one day?

Personally, I think you should lie down, calm down, and get away from

I just got a message from him through my Star Wars List...

It seems he's been doing the Convention Circuit lately (3 Cons in the last
3 weeks) and said he won't have much time for the next few weeks...

He said he should be back in about 3 weeks or so...

About 1.5 weeks. I suppose he's gotta work sometimes, too. Hey, this
list existed years without him, so if Mike has important things to do
(like editing RBB2 :-) I think we can do without him (hm. Not sure if
the tone of this is right... maybe. It was not meant aggressive, nor to
say i don't want to see Mike here!)

Isn't GAMA right about now? Expect things to get worse as the summer
goes on kids. There's lots of conventions yet to come.

FASAMike said he would be rejoining the list "any day now".

Do anything to intentionally piss off Mike and you will find yourself
booted. This goes for everyone.

Of course, this does not mean "Don't post anything that Mike may not like."
but rather "Don't try to annoy Mike."

I realize most if not all of you are mature enough to realize without me
having to explain it word for word, but you know how it goes.. ;)

Hey, Bull... methinks we should get Tyrell tied up somewhere (maybe under

Oh no! You're not bringing him in here! There are plenty of bunkers around

Ya know, I did mention having some rope...hey Bull, ya hungry? We could tie
him up and submit him to the worst of tortures first. Get him all emotional,
tickle his feet, one at a time of course....make him listen to Barney songs
and tie him down so that he has no choice -BUT- to watch the tv with them
on...

What did the poor cows do to deserve that! Besides... won't it make
their milk go sour? I hate sour milk.

No, DA, you are wrong here....

You don't "piss off someone". Usually, you do your best to do it to
all, shareing it evenly among all the readers!

(* Note: I am *JOKING*! I really like DA's POV most of the time,
especially since he's usually of a complete different opinion then me,
and even more long-winded! :-) *)
