It's been a long time, but FASA has finally updated at least their main
page. Looks good!

Anybody know anything about either Crimson Skies or the miniatures game?

They demo'd both at GenCon, but I didn't get a chance to play either.
They looked pretty cool.

Crimson Skies is a progressive board game based in an alternity
history around the time, or just after, of World War I. Players fly
bi-planes, blimps, etc. It has Allies and Axis powers, and pirates.
If you win a game, your "characters" progress to the next game with
improvements. Sorry, a don't have any more details than that.

The miniatures game was designed by Mike "Scuzzy" Nelson, the same
guy that did the SR card game. The premise behind it is that this
huge vortex is swallowing worlds, and the races that live inside it
battle for supremacy. The mechanics looked pretty simple, and the
miniatures were absolutely gorgeous.

That's all I can remember from the spectator position I had. :)

Unlike my friend Tim I DID get a chance to demo both games. I enjoyed them
both. The AFAIK still unnamed miniatures games was fun, but the miniatures
are large detailed castings and will be IMHO rather expensive, since I
don't care to paint or collect miniatures I doubt i'll be involved with it,
but as a game I liked it alot. As for Crimson Skies from what I understand
it's going to be a kind of miniatures/board game. It does use little
planes and such, but I think they will be just paper on stands...the real
draw is the cool combat system.

Close. It is alternate history @ 1930's. The US has split up a la
Shadowrun history and instead of expanding out they built everything up up
up. Blimps are used to transfergoods and people and the fighters are there
to protect/pilliage them.

I took a look at a few demos (mainly when you guys were playing) and it
looks good, although it reminded me of Warhammer-with-D10s in its
mechanics (roll to hit, roll to damage, roll to save, etc.). But I agree
about the miniatures -- they looked very good, but going by the size
they'll probably cost too much :/

Now if only I'd stop waking up so early in the morning... Must be a jetlag
thing :(

I believe the name for that game is "Carniverse." I just got my playtester
copy of SR3 (which I didn't know I was getting, so I now have two
softcovers, first and now second printing, in addition to a BABY) and
included was a "GenCon report" sort of thing. And this other game I
believe was "Carniverse."

I think this info *should* be popping up on their website pretty soon, if
not by now.

It came as something of a surprise to me, too. I'd called Mike up=

to check to see when the playtest stuff had shipped, and he just casually=

mentioned that he'd included a copy of SR3. The playtest stuff arrived
today, only a day late. I'd been under the mistaken impression that it wa=
s
supposed to have arrived on Monday... <g>
