This cracks me up. I just checked their site. And they now
have a preview of SR3's main book online. Still no date
for the GM screen, and the Seattle Sourcebook 2, isn't
listed. They do now show MITS being do out in March.
All this, and they still have yet to formally post the errata for
at least 3 books. Sigh....I love this game..but sometimes......

Guys, there is a reason why FASA SR is in a state of mayhem at the moment.
Due to the overwhelming need for the SR Companion, Third Ed., to be put out,
that book is being put on the burner at the moment. So if MiTS appears to be
coming out sometime in March, I'm not terribly surprised at the moment.

Say what?! Pressing need. I can't wait for MC23 to hear this one.
The companion being given priority over MITS. I can hear the
fuses blowing now. Anyway why? Don't get me wrong I like
the edges and flaws, and the point system was good. But they
aren't critical to the game. MITS is, particulary with all the changes
to the magic system. Sigh....ok..<RANT OFF>.
I've got to get over FASA and their book release time frame at
the moment.

Huh? The SRC doesn't need urgent changes - the book is no less
balanced now than for SR2. Magic, on the other hand, has changed
dramatically - so much so that almost all the spells written up in
the Grimoire and Awakenings are incompatible with SR3.

I'd rather have MITS in January and SR3C in like August than have
SR3C now and wait until March for MITS...

Ummmm . . . as much as I hate to admit I'm not following . . . What third
edition Companion? I thoguht that MITS, M&M, CC, New SEattle, and
the Shadowfiles update were the only third edition sourcebooks on the
drawing board.

Well if it is any consolation, Mr. Bobroff has also confused me with this
remark, and I'm trying to find the information out for myself.

I *think* that the 3rd Ed companion is NOT going to be the same kind of
concept entirely as the first one was. Please note, I *think* it's gonna be
different. If Steve or someone else with more information should speak up, it
would be appreciated.

But now it's time to go out to eat and get Mike B. to talk in a little bit
clearer lingo..

MitS)

You know, I was wandering the FASA website and found something that made me
laugh...

The page located at Shadowrun -> What's New -> Products -> Coming Soon is
dated June 19, 1998 and lists (among others) the following:

* Corp War -- Available in July 1998
* Shadowrun Third Edition Gamemasters Screen -- Available in September 1998
* New Seattle -- Available in September 1998

<rant>
I find it rather sad to have a "Coming Soon" page that old (how much time
does it take for someone to post a "Information coming soon..." anyways?
). More annoying is that FASA was saying in June '98 that Corp War would
be out in July '98 and in early December '98 they finally mention that it
is a discontinued product! (In fact, I have noticed that other than a
couple of out-dated static release schedules, there is no longer any sign
on the FASA site that the Corp War expansion ever existed...it is no longer
listed in the catalog and they have even removed the discontinuation
notice). The Gamemaster's screen just today became listed as In Stock and
New Seattle is listed as coming out in January. That's what, a three to
four month delay from an earlier release date. That also makes about four
months between FASA's release of their brand new Shadowrun 3rd Edition and
the first support material specificaly for that new edition, much less the
six to seven months we will be waiting for MiTS or any other major rules
updates (assuming they even get it out in March).

I don't mind a little schedule inflation to encourage pre-orders, I also
know that schedules are made to be broken and "life happens," but this just
seems a little ridiculous. Oh well...

I completely agree. You'd think that with the internet becoming more and
more important in people's lives that FASA could give a little more
priority to this. It's getting to the point where a company's website is
often times taken to be a reflection of the corporation itself. And
FASA's website is a shambles.

And more, with the importance that you see given to the matrix in SR, you
think they would realise the mistake. It has been said that the probelm with
the site was due to a company that runs the site for FASA (they used to do
more in house, but now I guess they don't).
Seems they have a web-company that had a computer crash and was still
working out the bugs of all the updates.

(Hell, maybe if MS takes over FASAInt, they can slip them something to update
their site, of course FASAInt has the only site more out of date than FASA)

It's been pretty clear to me for some time now that FASA just doesn't get
the concept of the Internet. Moreover, there is quite a bit of evidence that
they don't really get the concept of computing in general.
