Just out of curiosity, has anyone out there played, or seen played,
a female Ork, Troll, or Dwarf in Shadowrun? I don't think I've seen any
NPC's like this, but I have nowhere near all the books.
Be interesting to hear about any such characters...

Hmmm... one of the riggers Sam hires in the Secrets of Power trillogy is
a female dwarf. And then there's Sam's sister...

Take a look in the Contacts book; I'm pretty sure you'll find a handful
of female metas in there.

Yep, I got a (female) player with a female troll which is as mean as
you can get them. Chromed to the max, and bio-ed to the optimum, and
with a charisma of 1 not some one you easily get on with. One wrong
look in her direction and it's choppy choppy time. I think her life-
expectancy will be very short, but what the heck, she thinks it's fun
to play one.

dwarves, some trolls, some orcs. In fact I have one female troll with
a charisma of 5(7) (9) () from Cultured Phereomones...She's a madam for
one of the local Mafia-owned brothels...
of course these are contacts that I made up for my Denver Merc. Campaign...

I run a group where there are 3 female metahumans.

2 twin Troll Physical Adepts body 12 ,str 10 ... now init level 1
1 with +2dice reaction astral perception and killing hands M

1 with +2 dice reaction astral perception and killing hands L and saving
for reaction +3
trolls are kind of slow with - 1 quick and -2 int but boy can they
hit hard
not to mention being able to resist damage. (and trying to heal them is
a breeze)

the 3rd female is a Elven shaman *don't remember the totem*
very lots of spells (picked resources 2nd) and not much stuff but it's
all expensive. *stats suck at first but it's easy to raise 1's*
i.e. max out on Int,Quick, and willpower, then raise all 1's to 2's and
try to max out carisma as soon as you can.

___________________________________________________
some of them have xtra characters also in my world

1 is an elven druid of water - with a spanish galleon *fully automated*

another is a Elven Wildcat (similiar to the druidic totem) shaman.

and the last is a dwarven female Rigger with only 1 wimpy car
but ton's of cyber including boosted *so she can safely get out
of her car.*

Hope this helps

I have played in or heard about a few groups which had female
metahumans on their SR team. Trouble is, there aren't too many women I
know of who regularly play Shadowrun, for that matter - RPGs. Although,
that's changing.
Let's see... Besides cross-gender role-playing, I've played with
my ex-GM's sister who ran a female dwarf mage and she did quite well.
Another woman I use to know played a female ork mercenary, until her
untimely demise in the game. I have also heard my ex-GM telling me about
one of his girlfriends who chose to play a female troll street samurai.
It was her first time playing SR, and he was very impressed when she had
to interrogate an NPC by threathing to rape him in the game in order to gain
some valuable information. Needless to say, the NPC caved and gave it to
her. Scary thought, I was told she was serious.
One thing I really enjoyed about SRing alongside female runner
(played by females, of course) is they get a different perspective or
approach towards a sitaution - whether it's legwork or combat; often, the
results are surprising and unexpected. And as a GM, it's nice to have
female runners for it adds a little more realism to the game with regards
to role-playing along with the fairer sex and another option besides the
"frontal assualt, kill everything, show no mercy attitude". But then
again, some women who play SR play gung-ho, Charles Bronson types - which
is cool too.

Yes there was a female orc in one of the books. She was an eastern indian if
I remember correctly. Can't say which book though. She actually fell in
love with the main character in the story if I remember correctly. Anyone
remember which book?

Wow I'll have to tell the 4 out of 9 players that I have that they
are an
exception to the rule.

Oh yea - one of my players is now playing a Samurai Minotaur.
she like to use her tail to get the attention of the Troll bouncers.
And any other male hormone she can head butt.

She even has a supra-thyroid for better stamina. *at least that's
how she's playing it.*

*she doesn't play very often but it's quite a verbal adventure when
she does.

For a while, my team had a nemisis by the name of Miss Kitty. In one fight
with this orc fem, Ned tried to head-butt her (like always) and only
damaged himself, and Ridley went completely unnoticed while hanging on her
with handcuffs around her neck. The next time we saw her, it was just
after the limo she was in had taken a force 6 ram spell and one or two
autocannon rounds. It was great fun with cars slamming into each other,
exploding and burning, until she managed to kick the door off the limo
and take off through a building with mossbergs blazing and no aparent
damage. Scary chick.

The book Nosferatu <sp> has and Indian Ork female in it. And in the book
Changling there are several female orcs that are incountered in the ork
underground, including a female rat shaman that joins the main group.

I don't think I've ever encountered a female Troll or Dwarf in any of the
books or modules....

It was the one with the Grimm Reaper, Streets of Blood if I am not
mistaken. Apart from that, there is the elven rigger in Plus Ca Chance (sp?)
and Khams orc girlfriend in Never Deal with a dragon. Then there is
Jenna Ni'Faira a princes of the Tir, Ehran's daughter, the daughter of
the owner of the Telecom of Tir NaN Og in Celtic Doublecross. The
elven enchanter that gives foci to lord Llanfrechfa (sp?) in Streets
of Blood, errrr well there are lotsa I could go on like that forever.

NAN1 -- the Pueblo underground is more or less run by a female native

I've one player (my only one :( ) who's playing a female dwarf shaman with a
goal in life of initiating as often as possible.
I did notice though that I frequently make a distinction between men, women,
and metahumans when GMing..."The woman with the AK comes walking up to your
car (...) There's an ork coming down the stairs."

I know, there are a LOT of female Elves. That's why I specified -other-
metahuman races.
I was kinda dissapointed to see some of the responses along the
ines of "she's a bitch-PMS queen from hell" and "She threatens to rape
people" and "She'll go after anyone"... speaking as a female, though
admittedly not a female metahuman, it was kind of sad to see.

The Indian (that's like, from India) Ork was actually introduced in
"Streets of Blood".

What about the female dwarf rigger in "Find Your Own Truth"? Now, Female
troll... female troll... female troll. Ah, gotcha. In "Harlequin", there
was a female troll bouncer, name of "Betsy", or "Betty", I think.

Speaking as one of the "evil" respondants, "It was a joke"... My wife,
who
plays SR <and has had several female metahumans> read and giggled at it.
Its my personal opionion that having females in the groups adds a nice
flavor and a fresh veiwpoint to our games.

We actually have 2 females in our group, my wife and our neighbor/landlord.
I just ran the group through the "counterstroke" part of Harlequin. Both
the females and 2 of the males were captured and tossed naked into the
cell... Now of the 4 who do you think was the most cutting in the off hand
jokes? Well it was the females by a large margin both of the males kept
pretty quiet after my wife made the comment "well now we know why Fugly
drives such a big car"...

It was a real hoot...

Sigh...

Well, you guys that have female players in your groups can consider
yourselves lucky... Personally I'd love to have some *real* ladies in the
team. I have one player that sometimes plays x-gender. The others take every
chance to molest him/her as much as possible then...

It's just sooo hard convincing girls that gaming is fun and not just some
activity for antisocial geeks. At least here in Sweden.

Sigh...

And, no, I cannot think of any female metas that haven't been mentioned
already.

Yes, I'm a very lucky guy, my group consists (sp?) of two male and two
females including me (GM). That make more female players than males. Gosh!
Hmmm, about x-gender: I really hate guys playing female characters. It just
shows how they like their women and that can be a real pain. A friend of
mine once in a while likes to play a woman and it's always the 'femme fatal'
type. I hate that (and the 'real' girls in the group, too).
I played a femal character a long time ago in a palladium game and after
some time I questioned myself "So, what's the difference in your style of
playing?" The answer was "nothing", so I switched back to male characters
and never tried it again. That's only my personal point of view, maybe
other guys are good girls (I'm only talking rp-characters here).

We've two girls in our group. One is playing a (male) rat shaman, quite well
indeed. The other is the typical beautiful mage. Actually she looks better than
her character (!). It's a very nice view from the back of my laptop/master
screen.

And quite distracting....

Anyway, have you all noticed that the majority of girls likes to play magical
chars instead of, let's say, deckers? Well, some like the Molly standard, but
they are samurai, not the techno-genre kind.

Bye, Paolo

Nope, she actually never cheated as long as I know her (even
sometimes pointed out to me that her ammo has run out). She even
forgot to spend about 200KY in character generation, so I helped her
out a bit and bought some usefull thingies she forgot to buy (she
hasn't played SR that often).
The ones you are going to get are from her boyfriend who makes a
hobby out of cheating (only if he would do it better, he could make
an art-form out of it :). This time he went just a bit to far...

Her name was betty, and she had that spiky stick-figure drawing in
the back.. maybe a Doog (?)

She became an instant hit with the partry after they notice her badge:-

BETTY
(me)

And has become a steady contact for most of them, much like the legendary
Newt did from Mercurial. Newt had the reputation of being the hardest
troll around, and players regullarly did drive buys on the front door of
the uderworld, to draw the cops away from their target, becuase thery knew
Newt wouldn;t get hurt ;-)

I have a strange idea for a Newt-Betty love story in the romeo and juliet
style ;-), but then I'm quite a sick guy.

But most, if not all, of those are elves. If I remember correctly, Eve's
original post said "female dwarves, orks, and trolls" -- most of the female
metahumans in SR fiction and sourcebooks are elves, with a few exceptions
such as the Indian ork samurai in Streets of Blood.

It's just so hard convincing _anyone_ that gaming is fun... Maybe that's
because I'm an antisocial geek, though :)

*sigh too*

I currently have three female players in my campaign all of which play
female characters...From as long as I have GMed Shadowrun I have had
at least two females in my campaigns...Of the current players two are playing
elves and the other is a human...of course their is the female orc NPC...

Yes, certainly. We had a female orc newscaster and a female troll bouncer
(ala magnetic dog sister) and a female dwarf chemist. Most of us men play
males because if we play females they still get called him. Our female
teammember prefers humans. But lots (say half) of npc's are female, despite
the slant of the modules- from security guards on up.
The troll bouncer is the only PC who seems to have staying power, though.

Yes, Newt. I played Maria last week with a newbie-group of players. One
of them is playing a female Troll-Rigger with a cowgirl-touch. Yes, it's
spooky, all too true. BTW it's a male player. The problem was, that the
rigger kind of like that "tough looking troll" and tries to start a instant
romance with him. Meanwhile, he was busy hassling the folks who want to
see the concert. *sigh* A real good laugh for the players, but kind of
embarrassing (sp?) for the GM(me).
bye,
Stefan
