Maybe (if Fireball requires oxygen, which I'm not sure about), but
first it's going to superheat all the air that's inside that area of
effect, and also some around the perimeter. All of that superheated
air will expand. Boom. Shockwave.

Ooh! This is off-topic too, but it got me wondering... I wonder if
it's possible to build an astral camera using Type I FAB? A camera to
detect astral emissions over time would be pretty easy: just put the
bacteria in a box and watch the inside with a UV video camera. Sync
it up with a normal camera monitoring the room, and you've got
photographic evidence of astral activity.
It *might* even be possible to build a sort of astral CAT scan. If
you could breed FAB cultures with different, carefully calibrated
levels of astral sensitivity, you could separate them into layered
plates and photograph each in turn, building a 3D image of auras or
astral signatures.
Just thinking out loud here. If it were possible to build astrally
opaque non-luminous surfaces and astral reflectors, the options would
start to get *really* interesting. >8-> I'm not quite sure how you'd
do that, though, in the game's thaumophysics.

Or, if you have to, hope the Force is high enough. >8->
