nickname Ark. He was a wimp and he thought he could control just about
anyone with his spells. Well, me and a friend, a samurai, nickname pic,
decided to go into a corp building, Renraku I believe (sorry, this was 4
years ago) and lift some files. We were sent in by someone and we
managed to kill a few guards before we made it to the 40th floor. It amy
have been lower, but I think it was the 40th. It was then, when we
stepped out of the elevator that we knew we were in trouble. There were
these two guards there, sitting under a security camers with a gun.
Well, I threw a manaball and got one down, and pic geeked the other with
his Predator. As soon as the alarm went off, we decided to run. And we
did to the other side of the floor looking for the stairs. Unfortunately
we only found another set of elevators.
"Hey, look, it's stopping on this floor." I said.
"RUN!!!!" said pic.
And then out stepped a Dwarf guard with a riot shield. Behind
him was a large human with a minigun. And the whining began.....
We ran 20 feet, me casting a manaball (which had no effect) and
pic firing a few rounds into the riot shield (which had no effect) until
we were shredded by the minigun rounds. Because the SR rules were so bad
with rapid fire (or maybe we didn't study them real close) the gun took
out the window behind us first. I was killed first, but managed to land
on the edge of the floor, next to the open window. Then, (can you see it
coming?) pic was geeked and landed on me, pulling us both out of the
window and down the X number of levels to the floor. We were toast with
raspberry jam on top.
Luckily however, our doc wagon patch went off at the start of the
fall, and Doc wagon was there in 15 seconds (the dice were rolled and
they were patrolling down the street). We rolled the trauma dice and
survived. Pic lost a hand or something and I lost some magic (among all
of our karma).
That was the game that led me to deckers. Mages are fun, but not
when you're facing a minigun.......
Too bad doc wagon wasn't faster........they could have catched us.
